I believe there is a $400 difference between the two guns is the emp that much better of a gun. I carry a glock 19 and 26 right now, I was looking for a 1911 on the smaller side.
Thanks for your responses

if the price difference isnt a large deal to you, go EMP.
I've fired an emp and it was silky smooth and a tack driver.

Havent personally fired the 938 but ive read that the trigger is on the heavy side.

I love my P938, and its about a half pound lighter, which is important to me for personally (not saying that others don't care). What can I say, I'm just a Sig fanboy...

That has been my limited experience.

Sorry to hear that it has somewhat of a heavy trigger, as I like the way my 238 shoots. I will try to fondle both at the gun show but haven't seen to many 938's on the tables. Again thanks for the imput

I'm sure the 938's trigger pull is heavy, just like its brother P238. Size wise, the 938 is a bit smaller, and the EMP should fit a bit better in the hands (depending how small your hands are), but also the EMP is a bit more in price.

I consider myself a Sig fanboy as well, but I'm definitely rooting for you to get that EMP.

In reality they are 2 different guns, the EMP is superior to the 938 in almost every way except for size. The 938 is built more as a easily concealable 9mm on a modified 1911 platform that copied their 238 which copied the Colt Mustang, Sig did a very good job at that, it can be carried in ones pocket or IWB holster and disappear. The 938 does not have the grip safety that is found on 1911's. The downside on the 938 is the trigger is not that nice as compared to other Sigs. The EMP is a compact 1911 that was built from the ground up by Springfield, I cannot find anything to complain about with my EMP except that one of the night sight "tubes" came out of the rear sight, which I was lucky enough to find at the range and glue back in. The EMP shoots like a dream and carries fairly well in IWB or OWB holsters, it is not a pocket gun due to the size and weight. The EMP can be closly compared to and rival STI's Escort, it is a toss up which one I like better. The reason I do not consider the 938 and EMP a fair comparison is the prices, the EMP is around $400.00 more than the 938, if you took a 938 and had $400 worth of work done it would be equally impressive, actually if you just had a $50 trigger job done to it I would not have anything to complain about with the 938, by the way I have been called a "Sig snob" by a few as I really like their products and now have a 938 as well as an EMP, I am in no way trash talking the 938.

In short the EMP is easier to shoot, the 938 easier to carry..... everything about handguns is a trade off, what do you want... what do you need and what can you afford..... In the pic's you will notice that the EMP has rubber grips, I found them at a gun show for $10.00 and they actually feel better to me than the G-10's that came on the gun, they do not look as good but concealed is concealed and since the owner could never win a beauty contest no need for my gun to...........

Thanks salty1 for the info, good perspective and helpful to all degrees. I will wait to handle and see which one feels better in the hand may have to sell my xdm3.8 full size 40 to offset the diff of price.
Thanks

For me, the choice is easy. I have an EMP .45 that is my everyday carry. There is nothing I don't like about it. Carries well, shoots well. Stainless slide is moisture resistant. I did spend an extra $40 to have a gunsmith slick it up (polish feedramp, chamber roof, breechface, extractor) and lighten the trigger a bit (3.75 lbs).
FWIW, I believe the .45 is the same size as the 9 mm and .40 versions.
