League City: Another bogus cop

#1

Post by seamusTX »

A man described as a "heavyset Hispanic man in an orange Jeep" pulled over a woman driver about 5 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby, 2740 Gulf Freeway South, League City. He flashed a badge and accused the woman of driving recklessly.

The newspaper does not state what else he said or did, or why he may have left.

IMHO, this kind of incident is often a "warm-up" to a serious crime such as robbery, kidnapping, or rape.

Please tell your women-folk not to be taken in by unmarked cars and out-of-uniform fake cops. They can always call 911 to verify that a traffic stop is legitimate.

In unrelated news, one of the defendants in a robbery in League City that resulted in the shooting death of a homeowner is on trial. He testified on the witness stand that he shot the victim in "self-defense."

Genius. His attorney must be :banghead:

As I recall, the last time this happened in League City it was pretty late at night and in a deserted area. I would think the Hobby Lobby parking lot would have quite a few cars at 5PM.

I almost added that this is a visible location on an interstate frontage road during rush hour. The bogus cop took quite a chance that a real cop would roll up to assist or see what was going on.

In my simple mind, this is more evidence that the guy is some kind of pervert or obsessive. There's a whole subculture of police impersonators, discussing which probably would violate forum rules.

Subculture? You mean they are semi-organized and have meetings? A forum?

Wacko.

Yeah, they do. But I really don't want to go there.
