Houston - who carries Kahr locally?

#1

Post by RHenriksen »

Afraid to say that my ex had her big light bulb moment w/respect to always carrying.

She interrupted a burglary in process at her apartment, was dragged inside her apt by the hair at gunpoint, and thrown to the floor, threatened with death.

Thankfully, the bad guy at that point fled the scene - no further physical damage. But both of her pistols were stolen.

She's now very keen to purchase a compact 9mm very quickly. The M&P Shield is still scarce as hen's teeth; Academy tells me there is ONE 9mm in stock... in Beaumont. I know Kahr is another very popular choice; who all carries those locally (Houston area), or knows of a Shield in stock somewhere here?

many thanks,

RNH

I found a Shield locally! More expensive than Academy's price, but that's life. Still curious about the Kahr, though

If she hasnt settled on any particular 9mm check out the Ruger LC9. I have been carrying one and like it.

Glad the ex is ok.

High Calibre is having their gun show in Conroe at the Lone Star Convention Center this weekend. $7 entrance and free parking. Then in Pasadena at their convention center for $8 and free parking on the weekend of Oct. 6 & 7. You can pretty much find whatever you need for a decent price at those shows. Unless it's very new and hard to find. I priced the LC9 in Pasadena for around $309 if you look around. The Kahr CM9 is supposed to be pretty awesome too at a price that won't break the bank. I'll bet you can find a damn fine deal on either of those at these shows.

Collectors had some when I was there early in the year and the website is showing some as well. http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/catal ... lt/?q=Kahr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Our very own mrvmax seems to have some available next day: http://moderndefensivemeasures.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

CW9 for 349 the next day is hard to beat.

I second the Carter's recommendation. I like Berk at the Pasadena store. They run sales at sub $400 on CW series guns quite frequently. Also checkout the kahrtalk forum. there are sales on that forum just like here.

I have not seen any shields in houston yet. but if you wanted to check, the one place in town that seems to have more of things i can't find is at Collector's Firearms on Richmond. HUGE selection. Everything is overpriced, but they have more stuff than anybody else. Their ad claims it's like a gunshow in one store. That's almost accurate.

Jim Pruett's Guns & Ammo, 10490 Huffmeister Road. Bought my CW9 there, price was very reasonable. Loved it so much I now own a PM9 as well. Both work great for IWB carry. Recoil is rather snappy though (as would be expected). Very stiff spring; something to consider especially if purchasing for a woman (hold the sexist accusations, please...just stating a fact).
