You nailed it. It is the memories and friends, and I would add,
from all walks of life.
While I understand the position.. the question asked was BEST.
Not did we like them all for one or more reasons.. Perhaps I took the OP's question too literally, but I assume the question was, of all your assignments choose one, the best one.
That question does not take away from, your great memories of other great assignment.
I have great memories from each of my assignments, meeting my wife 21 years ago at 7th ID Fort Ord, 8th ID in Germany, seeing things like east Germany and the wall, that no longer exist, 82nd at Bragg, and, ok, so that one just sucked..

For me, it would have to be Fort Ord.. Best unit I’ve been in, best location, met my wife, boys born there.
