Re: Any Room For A New Guy?
Thanks... felt kinda funny walking out into a public place with it (concealed, of course). No Wally Walk yet. Just went into a gas station to fill up SUV's gas tank, grab a couple of cokes, and my lottery tix. I did catch myself inconspicuously tugging down on the my polo shirt to make sure nothing was showing (which never was to begin with). Will take some getting used to. For the past few weeks, I've walked around the house with my Foxx IWB (CB's ST knockoff) & XD9 4" with no issues. It's all in the head, I guess.
Anyhow... hope I never HAVE to draw. But, I'll begin the habit of carrying as much as I can, except work where policy mentions discovery of firearms on premises can result in suspension without pay, not excluding termination. I cannot speak for most, but I like my new job/company enough to let that slide (as it is a secured/patrolled parking lot).

I caught myself doing the same thing... The only time that my gun ever shows is when I first step out of the car.RIG78 wrote:Thanks... felt kinda funny walking out into a public place with it (concealed, of course). No Wally Walk yet. I am very fortunate to work for a company that doesn't have any 30.06 signs up or an official written policy prohibiting handguns. I am going to buy some SD .380 ammo today so that I can pocket carry while at work.

Wow... Have at it. Actually took my two younger sons to Wally World, Best Buy, and McDonalds after I got off work.GunNewb wrote:I caught myself doing the same thing... Re: Any Room For A New Guy?
it is a weird feeling isn't it! I also do the shirt tail thing (which I am sure just brings MORE attention to that area). I have the issue of getting out of the car since I am high up.. i have to make sure i put my back toward the door as i get out as to make sure noone sees and give me time to cover it up. My biggest thing is sitting down.. when I am in a restaurant I am paranoid that the but it sticking out.. i am CONSTANTLY checking which is bad I know.. I feel like everyone is staring at meRIG78 wrote:Thanks... felt kinda funny walking out into a public place with it (concealed, of course). No Wally Walk yet. That may have been the case. I'm just glad I have it now. Once the BC was complete, manufacturing and mailing went quickly, one day for each. I received in the mail on Aug 28th.

Re: Any Room For A New Guy?
Plastic in hand on Saturday! :)
Went out Sunday for my Wally Walk and found that - for me - carrying at 4:30 is like bad acupuncture. Also, carrying in public felt a little weird, but the only time I was apprehensive was at checkout. Every time I pulled something out of the cart made me conscious I was carrying. I went with my 12 year old daughter and it occurred to me on the way there - what in the middle of checkout she asks me loudly: "Daddy do you have your gun?" But a quick conversation about 'don't ask me if I'm carrying' solved that. She's such a good kid
Forgot a couple of things so went to Kroger's later, stopped at the ATM and got gas. That time I adjusted my holster to just past 3 and felt MUCH more comfortable.
Still want to purchase a more compact pistol but have now seen first-hand that with appropriate clothing a full-size pistol in an IWB holster is definitely perfectly feasible.

Re: Any Room For A New Guy?
Gotta go with what's comfortable for you. I carry my full-size (when I do carry), and it's usually fine (for me) at about the 5-position. I've tried the 3-4, but the full-size seems too bulky for that. 5 works, and keeps concealed with tucked or untucked shirt. But, that depends on your shape. So...txgrifter wrote:My biggest thing is sitting down.. when I am in a restaurant I am paranoid that the but it sticking out.. i am CONSTANTLY checking which is bad I know.. Haven't been at my plant site in over 2 weeks. So, I carry every day. Trust me... a full-size can DEFINITELY be well hidden.
Re: Any Room For A New Guy?
I got my card about a year and a half ago; and started to carry a little more that a year back. I tried a number of carry options before I learned about the Zura from Cattasi Holsters. I can now comfortably carry my Kahr PM 9 in dress slacks and a tucked in dress shirt all day long completely concealed and easily accessible. I've been comfortably carrying with Cattasi Zura for about 9 months and am very happy with this set up. No issues sitting, or while in the car; and no tugging on the shirt when I stand up.
