Pulled the trigger on a P938

Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
There is a 238HD that has a wider slide but I do hot have one to compare. The safety is on the left and was not the problem. The wife is a lefty and like the ambi safety. She also likes the extended mag.

Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
Not sure I understand, "The safety is on the left." What I am saying is that the 938 has to be wider due to the ambi-safety (one on each side), and perhaps the ambi-safety is what is preventing it from being holstered in a 238 holster which is designed for a single safety on the left.elpjt wrote:The safety is on the left and was not the problem.
Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
Both the 238 and 938 have a safety on the left side and going into a right handers holster would be in effect the same. The width of the slide is somewhere around a 1/4 inch wider on the 938 and kept it from fitting into a molded holster. The grip width was not a factor to holster fit. 1.093 inch at silde release and 1.375 at the safety. Slide length 5.375 inches. Sometimes the specs listed on web sites of manufacturers are a bit off. Like beretta missing by over 2 ounces the weight of a Nano.

I am planning to get one of these after they get all the bugs worked out. Please let us know how it runs!

Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
First day at the range, took it easy, put 100 rounds of WWB and 20 rounds of Federal HydroShock.
Trigger was as expected, not as sensitive as a 1911, but after about 5 magazines I got used to the pull. I'd recommend to anyone to invest in the extended mag, I have small hands and it just felt better than having the pinky wrapped around the bottom.
Second magazine had a FTFeed, so I took it out and noticed the inner spring is 'spent' and caught on the magazine itself, so its going back to Sig for a replacement. I don't want it anyway, and I'm gonna try to sweet talk Sig into an extended replacement.
My left hand took no time getting used to the safety on the thumb side, although I'm still using my trigger finger on the slide release, so that feels normal (for a lefty anyway).
I've found my new everyday carry, but since I still have 9 weeks to wait for my custom rgrizzle, I'll get more range time in!!!
This was after about 50 rounds in, about 12 meters. I was aiming at center mass and up one square.

My RGrizzle came today...wearing it now and I can't even feel its there. For comparison sake, its about the size of a checkbook with a gun sticking out! This guy is a freakin' genius!

Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
My shot groups are getting much better, all within the 4-block squares, as expected. The gun is no longer the 'light' gun that it was on day one. I am much more comfortable with the weight/trigger pull ratio. I've been feeding it WWB and Federal Hydroshock and haven't had a FTF/FTE since replacing the magazine (which Sig did for free in two days!). I'm trying to get Ryan to make me a matching magazine holster. We'll see...JeepGuy79 wrote:how is it running now? I really want one, but no headaches.
If anyone wants to see the holster or needs more pics, just let me know. It was well worth the wait and definitely worth the price.

Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
any idea if one will fit in a 238 holster? How much was that leather you got? it looks amazing.
If it has the crazy trigger pull the 238's do and you want to drop it on the cheap take out the mainspring and bend the trigger portion of the spring straight. Little polishing the trigger/sear/hammer area gets it pretty clean.

Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
I'm told it fits the cheaper 238 holsters, but the custom one's have less tolerance so the added width of the grip won't fit. The rgrizzle set me back about $135 after shipping, but it fits like butter (if that had any metaphorical meaning). My weakside mag holster is on its way, and I'll photo that when it comes.JeepGuy79 wrote:any idea if one will fit in a 238 holster? How much was that leather you got? it looks amazing.

I'm satisfied with the trigger pull, it lets me know I'm actually pulling it. I love my SRT on the big Sigs, but for carry peace of mind its nice to have some more pounds of pull involved.

Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
Speaking of "pulling the trigger," I was at a well-stocked SIG dealer recently and noticed that the trigger quality on both the 238's and 938's vary considerably from gun to gun. Some are quite nice right out of the box while others were like a box of rocks and felt about +2 lbs heavier. Maybe a rough one would smooth out in time, but for that reason alone I would buy from a dealer where I could handle and choose the one that would go home with me; paying $30 more is a lot less expensive than a trigger job! Have been lusting after one to replace my Kahr P380 but I need to sell it first. (BTW, they do make variants of the 238 with Ambi safeties. The Scorpoin version has them and I think 2 others as well.) But, with the 938 now out now and so close in size to the 238, it just begs the question - why in the world would anyone ever buy a 238???
Professional Training, Competition, Risk Avoidance, Situational Awareness, Tactical Mindset, 100,000+ rounds down range - the hardware is the least important part of the equation...

I did a trigger job on my 238 and brought the pull down from 10.5 pounds to 4. Cost me nothing. Just rebent the trigger spring and polished the connections.
Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
One reason that people will still buy the 238 is that racking the slide is much easier, those with arthritis or weak hands can easily rack it, the 938 is more difficult, not by a lot but they do require a stronger grip. I just received 2 of them in stock, the extreme and nitron with rosewood grips, personally I like the nitron better, add in an extended mag that the extreme comes with and it is a winner. I shot and carried the extreme a few times and really like the gun, it fit into my Galco 238 OWB holster nicely and may just move the extreme model into my personal stash.... I will replace the grips though, they are a bit rough and sharp on the edges....Dusty Harry wrote:Speaking of "pulling the trigger," I was at a well-stocked SIG dealer recently and noticed that the trigger quality on both the 238's and 938's vary considerably from gun to gun. Re: Pulled the trigger on a P938
Salty, that's the reason we have a 238. The MUCH better half has very weak hands. It's the first SA she's found where she can rack the slide and operate everything with no problems. And the lighter recoil of the 380 help her skinny little hands. It's what she used to qualify for her CHL. I'm not a fan of the 238 myself as my longer fingers don't let me get a good hold on it. Fits her munchkin hands like a glove though.
And Ryan does make some nice holsters.
