Police confirmed for the first time that a civilian — who was not identified by authorities — fired five or six rounds from a small caliber handgun toward Caffall.
More at link above
The map on that link sheds some more link on the incident, too, thanks for sharing. I'm still unclear though: did Caffall attack out in the open, or did he just shoot up and down the street from his residence?

Folks, being a part of this service was one of the most amazing, humbling experiences of my life. Seeing thousands of officers, and thousands of community members showing their support blew me away. I have some first hand photos from the procession POV, but I'm too wiped to post them.

There are other stories on KBTX too. I don't link to the Eagle because I can't stand they way they handled an officer involved shooting, but I'm sure there are stories there too.

I'd really like to see the photos from the multiple helicopters flying around.

Good video here too:

My deepest sympathy for the friends and family of the fallen police officer.

This location has a timeline of the events.

When I read this, it was very upsetting.

"Witnesses also told police that the suspect approached Constable Bachmann, after shooting him and removed his duty weapon from his gun belt."

However I was not aware of this below and it obviously shows the respect College Station shows for its police.

"During this same time period a civilian in the 600 block of Highlands fired 5-6 rounds from a small caliber handgun towards the suspect."

"12:14 PM – First officers arrive on scene and approach from Maryem Street. They immediately come under fire from the suspect."

Patience. It will all come out in the wash. This incident is as we speak being investigated by numerous law enforcement agencies, particularly those who may have a dog in the hunt, and they will speak when they have sorted it out.

It was indeed a tragic case. I waved at Constable Bachmann most every school day morning and considered him a close personal friend, as did almost everyone in my neighborhood.

This episode, with no humor intended, is beginning to be called "The Shootout at the OK Corral" here in College Station. I'm sure Gigag04 will let us know what really happened in the not too distant future.

I pulled up the CS Eagle. They have a 29 minute video of the procession.
Very sobering. Keeping the families in my prayers.
