That looks like it applies to a duplicate "based on a change of name or address" not a renewal. Either way, silly rules like that are another reason for me to stick with my lifetime license.

Why is it a silly rule? There would be zero reason to have two "active" licenses. If you have to surrender one for some reason, it's not like you can just pull out the other one to use. If anything, hanging onto the original would more than likely cause the person to forget to swap them when the time comes.

Ok, I've searched the statutes and cannot find that. What's the code and chapter?

Thanks KC5AV! :tiphat:

jmorris, if you still find a problem with that, I suggest you ask Charles to clarify it for you as we all (most of us) agree with the intent of the rule.

Does the administrative code apply to people who aren't employed by the government?

The Administrative Code is not an employee manual. State law provides for the various departs to establish administrative rules that govern the activites they administer. Consider them the state equivalent of the rules and regulations implemented by the federal departments.

I just got my first renewal today.
31 days from the time they say they received it to it being in my mailbox.

I asked a gentleman at Memorial Shooting Center about how long it's taking for renewals these days and he said about 2-3 weeks. Sure enough, a co-worker got his renewal back 3 weeks to the date he mailed it in. I've already registered online; I guess I better go ahead and take my class and get everything submitted well before the November elections in case there is another flurry of new CHL's and it starts taking months again instead of week for processing.

Wow, the DPS have really gotten efficient compared to the timeline for my original license ordeal in 08'!!!!!

Yep, good idea and they are pretty fast at completing these now....but, like you said, come November they may be swamped again!!!!
