Just a throw in here. I don't know if he swept the barrel away or grabbed it but anyone in this situation would be well advised to grab the barrel as they keep it from pointing at them. Maintain control of the shotgun. If the perp simply holds on to the gun and steps backwards, they can still blast you before they run away. :fire

Plus if you can yank it away from the guy and then he runs off, hey! Free shotgun. :biggrinjester:

Too bad the police would probably confiscate it for evidence. That, and I'm not sure I would want a gun that was probably used in other crimes.

My clown hat ( :biggrinjester: ) indicates I was joking, or at a minimum being facetious if not outright sarcastic. ;-)

 I know you were, I was just presenting a response to a what-if scenario. I also I know I'm not the best jokester. Oh well.

Yeah... I wouldnt want a gun with a criminal background either. It might have a tendency to commit other crimes.

My mistake. I thought you had read my post as serious and thought I was running around stealing guns from bad guys.

I don't think that counts as "stealing a gun"

Wouldn't it be "taking a war trophy"
:reddevil
Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.

"Arrest" is when the handcuffs stay on and as your are leaving the scene in the back of a police car you over hear the officer say, "I'm 10-95 to the jail." "Detained" is when they take the hand cuffs off and let you leave.

Your friend did well. :)
