Buy more than one
I went to purchase a hand gun and ended up buying 2 (the prices were comparable to what I saw on different web sites). One of the guns was out of stock and the purchase was completed the next morning. I did have to fill out another 4473 and they had to call in a second NCIC. I was not concerned about having multiple back ground checks since my CHL was ‘in the mail”. The second call for NCIC would not have been necessary if I had had my CHL. It came the afternoon of the second purchase.
I did realize it may raise a red flag.
From what I can gather, there is a requirement of the FFL to do some “multiple purchases” paperwork and notify local police and the ATF.
If that is a requirement (notifying local and ATF) shouldn’t they let me know that? Could it prompt a visit by the ATF?
I don’t have anything bad to say about that dealer and would certainly go back to buy anything else I need.
I don’t feel like I did anything wrong and have nothing to hide.

Yes, they will report a multiple purchase.
The likelihood of it getting you a visit from the local police or ATF is slim to none.
Congrats on your new guns.

Well, that depends..... if you were buying two Jennings .25 caliber pistols, then yeah, I would hide the fact. If you were buying two Kimber Pro CDP 1911s, then no, you've got nothing to hide.Valk wrote:I don’t feel like I did anything wrong and have nothing to hide.

It appears that what I am buying is the same thing a LOT of others are buying. Not saying there is a shortage or anything. Went to get an ammo can yesterday and the next person was looking for the same thing!

Nothing wrong with a couple RIAs either

I was at a show a couple of weeks ago and saw a guy trying to sell his Jimenez pistols. There really ought to be a law that requires these pieces of junk to be melted back to the pile of zinc they were cast from.

Re: Buy more than one
Two or more handgun purchases in a 5 day period have to be reported. The form goes to the ATF and the chief law enforcement officer where the FFL resides. There is a lot of info on that form, serial numbers, the buyers info etc. Do a google search for "ATF multiple handgun sales form" and see what is on it. The ATF does look at the data, I have been contacted by them when I made mistakes on the form. I do not think you will ever get contacted by ATF but they do review the info.
