looking for cheap ammo
Ammo is going up.
Winchester .45acp was $19.95 for 100 rounds at wal-mart last month.
This month, it's $32+ for the same box. (Lead shortage?)
I ended up purchasing some brass blazers earlier this week for about $11 per box, but when I returned this afternoon, they were out. I ended up with the $13+ Remingtons. (Blazers & Remingtons were in 50 round bricks).
Anyone seeing cheaper ammo? How are Academy's prices lately?

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

My Wally world has plenty of Blazer Brass for 10.97 a box. I have stocked up on it recently. I just went to the Range today and put a box of Blazer brass thru my .45 along with a box of PMC and half a box of WWB. I really like the blazer brass and for the price right now you can't beat it.Venus Pax wrote:Ammo is going up.

I'm almost afraid to see what it'll be like tomorrow at the GRB...
I want to pick up one more box of .45/70 for the mid April trip...I'm hoping its still around $30 for 20...Thats been about average...

Your point really has no merit as a gunowner with a .22 could say the same thing. Smaller calibers, cost less to shot, its not rocket science. If I am in need of a gun in a self defense situation, I would rather have the .45 regardless of the cost of ammo.Liberty wrote:If you like to shoot a lot, do the math and you will find that with the ammo savings it doesn't take long for a nice 9mm to pay for itself.

ME TOO!!Right2Carry wrote:, I would rather have the .45 regardless of the cost of ammo.
Maybe we should start "Reloading Clubs" to partner up with our "Shooting Clubs". I'm joking a little, but not much.
I just took up carbine matches with Texas Tactical, so now I am trying to feed TWO bottomless pits. They say .223 used to be cheap. I just bought 1000 rounds of Wolf Black Box for $189 shipped. That was the cheapest I could find...and my kids like to shoot too.
You gotta love it.
By the way, 9mm is not THAT much cheaper anymore Maybe $6/100.

I know they might have more than whats shown on their website but it gives you an idea.
I plan on going to Walmart in the mornin. If they don't have 9mm that's cheaper than Acadamy im going there. I'll take a look at the .45 while I'm there. What ever I turn up I'll post tomorrow.

Re: looking for cheap ammo
In my neck of the woods Academy could not beat Wally Worlds price on Blazer Brass in .45. In fact academy doesn't even stock it anymore they have some brand called monarch they are selling for the same price as Blazer Brass .45. I am not familiar with Monarch so I didn't buy any and since it was the same price as Blazer price I decided that Academy wasn't worth the additional 8 mile trip when Wally World is within two miles and has plenty of .45.Wildscar wrote:Here ya go. http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=c ... ammunitionVenus Pax wrote:Anyone seeing cheaper ammo? It appears that academy has gone up on the Monarch ammo in .45 as well.

Looking forward to hearing the ammo price report. Wally World may have had a price increase since my last purchase which was a week ago.Wildscar wrote:Well that my neck of the woods also. That seems a little low for WWB in .45 Cal. Is that FMJ 230 grain? I think you are quoting 9mm prices not .45.TX_TLC wrote:In Abilene...
Walmart - WWB 50 rnds - $15.99
Academy - WWB 50 rnds - $6.93
I don't get it?

I was not suggesting that you give up the 45. Just a means of adding to your collection at no cost.
