How to Change License
I just completed the instructor course this weekend! I was told during the course that for a $25.00 fee I could have my license read
instructor. Does anyone know where I need to go on the Departments webpage to do this?
Thanks!

Send a filled out CHL-70 form with "INSTRUCTOR" written on the top of it along with your check for $25 to DPS and they will send you a new license with Instructor on it.

Re: How to Change License
When I renewed last year mine came back with "Instructor" on it no extra charge.

I just submitted my renewal last night, and it showed the option for Instructor designation at the same price as the normal renewal.CMalin wrote:That sure was nice of them! Re: How to Change License
If you want the instructor designation on your license (and you're not renewing), you need to pay the $25 fee similar to a change of address.
Note, however, if you drop your instructor's certificate, you'll need to pay another $25 to remove the designation from your license.

Re: How to Change License
I wonder how long it is taking them to mail out the changed licenses?

Re: How to Change License
I don't have an exact answer, but it shouldn't be very long at all. Since no background check is required, all they need to do is change the information in the computer, and request a new license be manufactured and mailed. I would expect this shouldn't take more than a week -- two at most.CMalin wrote:I wonder how long it is taking them to mail out the changed licenses?

If you don't renew your instructor certificate, do you have to pay another $25 to change it back?

As I said above, yes. At least that's what they told us a couple of years ago...smoothoperator wrote:If you don't renew your instructor certificate, do you have to pay another $25 to change it back?
