The worst part is that while there are indeed firearms attacks in other parts of the world with strict gun control laws, that is far from the only way that madmen and evildoers have killed masses of people. IEDs and even poison gas (remember the Tokyo subway attack?) have been used to kill a LOT of people...I'm no fan of Hickenlooper, Governor of Colorado, but I will give him credit for stating that evil folks find ways of killing others without using firearms. He is smart to stay away from gun control rhetoric in his swing-state during an election year.

I agree. In fact I did a report in college back in the 60's and I found some interesting facts. Weapons of choice for homicide just vary by what is predominately available. After the Sulllivan Act in NY the death rate from firearm homicides increased because handguns were banned and shotgun and rifle became the predominate choice. Statistics may have changed a little, but you were most likely to be killed by a family member, relative or friend/acquaintance.

In the context of the Aurora killings, there is an argument that we should be glad the shooter had access to guns.
This guy had an advanced degree in medicine and biology.
How hard do you think it would have been for him to come up with a biological or chemical agent that would have done much more harm?

For Extra Credit: what do you think the libs would want to ban if/when that happens?

Dunno... The weaponization of chemical/biological agents is an area that I don't really know much about. I'd imagine that it wouldn't take too long to find out how online, as long as you don't mind bringing yourself to the attention of various TLAs.

They'd probably try to ban numerous substances that both have many legitimate uses they haven't thought of, and are unrelated whatever what's his name would've hypothetically used.

Made my blood boil tonight - Taking about FBI tracking "heavy weapons" and included an AK 47? Heavy weapon? Seriously, we called them small arms in the military.

O'Reilly is out of touch and out of his league on this one. His biggest problem is that he will not keep his big mouth shut when someone that knows what they are talking about is trying to set him straight.

He is DEAD WRONG on this topic and has no idea of his miss use of terminology and laws that he has no conception of.

Didn't watch the factor tonight, but I heard he was not too friendly to gun rights again. Bill needs to get out of NYC.

He displayed incredible ignorance with his comments. Maybe HE"S been at the Kool-Aid he's always saying others are sipping. FBI would be looking at a lot of people for ammo purchases.

Bill really fired me up last night (7-24-12) when he completely went left with Jason Chafets from UT. He lumped AR-15 and AK-47s into the machine gun and heavy weapons category. He incorrectly stated that you can buy a machine gun without government knowing about it, and he called for more restrictions on ammo sales.

Bill O'Reilly is DEAD WRONG on this and he needs to get A LOT of emails.

If will be interesting to see if Bill O'Reilly's monumental ego and arrogance will allow him to admit that he doesn't know something. Please keep us informed as I no longer listen to, or watch, him.

Here is the text of an email I sent to Mr. O'Reilly:
Mr. O’Reilly:

I listened to your discussion with Rep. Chaffetz. There are some mistakes with what you said. It seems to me you may have allowed the left, who you (and I) normally have disagreement with, to misinform you on this issue. I am what you would probably call a “gun guy”. First of all, you seem to be confusing FULLY AUTOMATIC “assault rifles” such as actual AK-47s with SEMI-AUTOMATIC clones like the one I have in my gun cabinet. I don’t need the Feds checking on my rifle; it hasn’t hurt anyone and it won’t so long as I nor my family are violently attacked. Also, you kept saying the evil killer in Colorado bought SIXTY thousand rounds when he only bought SIX thousand rounds, a ten-fold multiplication that makes it seem insanely large. Have you ever been to a firing range? I go as often as I can afford to go; I can easily burn through two or three hundred rounds by myself for ONE FIREARM like a pistol in just a couple of hours or so, punching holes in paper. Groups of people often make bulk buys off the internet to save money, if they own the same caliber of weapon, and especially if they want to go to the range together. I have personally bought hundreds of rounds off the internet, which allows me to source them from the cheapest place. Also, Rep. Chaffetz is correct that buying FULLY Automatic (machinegun) weapons is heavily regulated by the Federal government under the National Firearms Act of 1934, the Gun Control Act of 1968 and the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986, plus current BATFE interpretation of those statutes. Not too long ago, a decorated Army National Guard sergeant, and veteran of the Iraq campaign, went to Federal prison for 10 years because his SEMI-Automatic AR-15 MALFUNCTIONED at a shooting range and fired multiple rounds with one trigger pull in two or three instances and someone reported him for it…a MALFUNCTION…he didn’t hurt anyone or injure anyone and he got TEN YEARS. So, don’t say they don’t enforce the laws…maybe gangbangers get away with it or cartel guys, but we both know why that is, don’t we? In any event, I implore you, do some further research on this topic. Don’t let the left turn you into a unintentional mouthpiece for the Brady Campaign and the worthless group MAIG run by his Royal Highness, your Mayor Nanny Bloomberg. I know you work in NYC and that might be slanting your views, but maybe you could go to Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, or even Pennsylvania, someplace more firearms friendly…then you might be able to visit a range, hang out with some “gun guys” and see it’s not like you think…it’s NOT the weapon, but the person who uses it that matters. Just remember, if Holmes couldn’t have used firearms, he probably would have used a bomb…he certainly knew how to build them as his apartment evidenced that.

Sincerely,

Not that it will matter a whole lot, but if he gets enough of this maybe he'll have his people look into it a bit more. I tried to list some East Coast gun friendly states, too...anyway, I did what I could.

:iagree: GOOD JOB!
Unfortunately, I doubt you will get a reply. Will he fess up and admit he is way off the mark on this one on air? I doubt it. I used to like him.

But, I really think the problem is not him directly. I think it is his staff and Producer who obviously know jack! It's exactly the same as the Government. Too many minions writing laws in back rooms. Face it, the only ones that know what "The Affordable Health Care Act" contains are the ones that wrote it, cause no one else has read it.

You would think that he would do a bit more research himself though and at least listen when someone who knows what they are talking about (Rep. Chaffetz) tries to straighten him out. :banghead:
