I'm planning a similar wally walk about likely with the G26 or G19. Not sure but the G26 will fit nicely in my car glove box. I might reserve the G19 for EDC?
Do you folks find that you have multiple guns tucked away around various places, i.e. leave one in the car, by the night stand in the house and one as a ccw? Also saw on another thread about probably getting a size large pant/shorts to make things a little easier.

I usually don't, but I've heard the term "truck gun" often enough to know that many do.xaggie95 wrote:I'm planning a similar wally walk about likely with the G26 or G19. Not sure but the G26 will fit nicely in my car glove box. I might reserve the G19 for EDC?

If I lived by myself and didn't have to worry about who my roommate might invite over with no warning, I might have a couple stashed in a few key places.

I don't leave guns in my car normally. An Officer buddy lost his gun at a mall by leaving it in the truck.
I've lost stereos, and boots in a car once ...
I leave guns in various places, one IWB at 3:00 another in the front pocket of my pants, sometimes one in a cargo pocket of cargo shorts too.
If there's a Courthouse/polling place I must enter ... I'll leave my gun in the car.
Yes, I have spots around the house I might place things I want access to.

I don't leave any guns in my vehicle, unless I have to disarm for some reason. At home all guns are in the safe with mags loaded and empty chambers due to my kids, but generally always am carring one. At night when going to bed, it gets placed on a high shelf where the kids can't reach because the safe is down stairs.

*waves at stealthfighter* Howdy! I live in Spring, too.
We don't keep guns stashed in different places; loaded and in the safe when in the house (looking for a bigger safe). On my person when out. I did buy a lock box for each car, just in case I went somewhere where I couldn't carry. I have taught the kids that they are not to enter our bedroom/bathroom without us, and they are not to climb around the car/release the seat belts until I tell them, too. But accidents happen. Now, when the kids are bigger, and have had some gun safety training, and have learned to shoot, I'm thinking I'll get one of those wall holsters to keep the gun closer to the bed.
All that being said, even if we didn't have kids in the house, I wouldn't leave a gun in my car unless I had to. But I don't leave electronics, phone, purse in there, either. Nothing that could be stolen. Most expensive thing in the vehicle right now is a fire extinguisher.

By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.

Re: New to this
I just got the "LockDown 222133 Compact Security Vault" from Amazon (MidwayUSA also sells it); it's relatively small and fits perfectly under my seat and in the console of my Explorer. Comes with a cable to secure it, and keys (not a combination lock).xaggie95 wrote:I have been looking at a lock box for the car, good idea.
I think this box is good for a compact or smaller, a full size may not fit well. It's not Fort Knox, but it will take somebody a while -without the keys or proper tools- to open it up.
