I've got a question. Hypothetical, of course. I've never been an LEO, so if what I posit is impossible, please let me know. If a "bad guy" were casing (sorry if that isn't the correct term or its outdated) places to rob and he got interrupted, why that MIGHT put a little irritation in him, right? And he MIGHT get a little agitated that he was being interrupted, right? And that might make him mad enough to want to "whoop" the someone who interrupted him, right? And yes, I know what I'm asking...but if some are going to suggest (even if not saying it exactly) that GZ was going far beyond his instructions as NW, and that he got overzealous and somehow created a situation that lead to the tragic conclusion we know of, then can't it also be suggested that maybe a kid, who was already in some hot water, might have been looking for more trouble to get into, and then found some? And got mad when he got interrupted? Now, of course, I don't know if that is true in the very least...but if we can assume one thing about GZ, then why not assume something else about TM, as well? Though, I'm only doing this to play the "devil's advocate".

I think stolen property was involved one of the times TM was suspended from school, so it's possible he was looking for something to steal. Maybe he wanted some extra money for skittles and iced tea. Maybe for drugs too.

TM's parents and their lawyer opened the door to this discussion when they "exposed" GZ's history, so they don't have a leg to stand on complaining when the shoe is on the other foot. It's the same for the people questioning GZ's motives when TM's motives are likewise questioned. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Especially if the cops charged him with assault for starting the fight.

If TM had lived there would have been a three line news story in the back pages of the local paper and we would not be having this conversation.

Its a "one-punch" leads to death story. Yes, it does seem the man was hit before that, but that one punch knocked him down and he hit his head, which is what ultimately killed him. Anyway, for you reading pleasure. And for those who dismiss this a a "Fox story", the story is from the AP, certainly NOT a conservative news source.

Zimmerman in his complete openness about what happened, voluntarily with out the representation of an attorney, took a lie detector test and passed it the day after the shooting.

He was asked did you confront Trayvon Martin? No.
Were you afraid for your life when you shot Trayvon Martin? Yes.

Both answers per the machine were correct.

Not sure why this information was not released sooner, like to save the police chief's job, or keep Zimmerman from getting death threats. If I passed a lie detector test, I certainly would want everyone to know.

Most people won't take a lie detector test. ie: O. J. Simpson as an example.

Usually, taking a lie detector test only has a downside. If you fail it you look guilty. If you pass it you can't use it in court to defend yourself. If you pass it people may think you're a pathological liar or sociopath.

It wouldn't have mattered anyway...which is what I think WildBill is alluding to. Even assuming that everyone takes the results of a lie detector as the truth, a lynch mob isn't appeased by the truth because their objective isn't justice, it's to hang someone.
