Newest member to the waiting room

#1

Post by Diax »

Time for me (and the wife) to sit in the waiting room for a while.

We both did all of our steps together and are now mailing it in today....

Our instructor said it only takes 2-3 weeks, but after reading a lot of these here, I know that cant be right.

Anyways, glad to be here among fellow CHL folks.

5/19/12 - Bought the wife a Walther P22- took her to the range for her first ever trigger pull and she fell in love with it. Told me that night she now wants to get a CHL and start a new range. After telling her how much it would take for a range, she agreed on the CHL.

Bought her a XD9 2 days before the CHL class and she didnt have time to shoot it before class.... The recoil was heavy for her, but she passed fairly well.
-----------
6/6/12 - Applied online
6/11/12 - Fingerprints/Photos
6/23/12 - CHL class
6/26/12 - Mailed off to TDPS
-----------

Lets hope for a speedy turnaround....

I would say 2 weeks or so from date DPS receives it, until it shows up online as received.
Then probably 2-3 weeks more before you have plastic in hand, unless they are having issues, which could delay it slightly.
Even still, I would say at most, from today, you should have plastic in hand (assuming you both qualify) by August 5th.

Good luck, Good reading and ask lots of questions, there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum, present company excluded LOL

Welcome. Yup My instructor said 3 weeks. I'm 2 days shy of 4 weeks now since I mailed mine off. Hopefully soon.

Right on Teamless, Ive been reading this forum for a while before I registered and posted, so I have a good grasp on whats going on. But I am sure I will have some questions somewhere along the line.

SSA and reverend, Cool, guess we get to wait together....Even if you will be way ahead of me :)

I cant wait.... Somehow have to put it out of my mind for a while...

As for the wife, she doesnt even want to carry, just go to the range. So, im not even sure why she was so wanting to get the CHL. She is actually saying to me "You arent going to carry often are you?" .... Im like, "Uh, thats why I just paid all this money and time to get this!" :smash:

Don't know what area you are in, but getting the wife involved in some ladies groups might be great way for her to change her mind about carrying. Also have her come on board here - so much to learn, and so many "characters" to entertain you ;-)

Good luck in your journey.

Maybe 2-3 weeks after they cash the check in your application packet to admit they received it.

My wife and I took the class at the same time. I did intend to carry as often as legal (and do), she has not ever carried hers (after 2 years), except for the time I asked to put my gun in her purse when I had to do something that I couldn't have it on.

While I know she doesnt carry, at least she understands the laws about carrying, and if she had the need, she could.

Divided, We are in the Denton area.... I would love to get her into a womens club... I may look into helping her find one, thanks for the suggestion.

Smooth, they got my credit card on the 6th...lol they already have their cash. So I guess they arent in a rush now :cryin

Teamless.... I am hoping her best friend will talk to her some. She is a female FBI agent, and one heck of a bad ass, if I do say so myself.... She carries everywhere, obviously. I am sure she will tell my wife she needs to carry as often as possible. Maybe she will convince her.... You know how wives are, they wont listen me, but her best friend may be able to convince her.

Either way, the ride will be fun.... I am excited about it. Cant wait for my first 'walk'

Today, at the end of the day, mine is still not even being shown as received.

Then were mailed together in separate envelopes.... Hopefully it shows up tomorrow.

Status update.....

Wife is changed to: Concealed Handgun License : Mailed

Mine is still on background review.....

Given it took them a week longer to receive mine (even though they were sent on the same day) I guess mine should change soon.
