County vs. Country

#1

Post by TX_TLC »

I just sent my paperwork in last week, but on the "Instruction sheet" for the application (not the TR-100) for the place of birth it said list: City, State, County.

But on the application in the place of birth box it said list: City, State, Country.

Anyone else notice this? I listed both just to be sure! :D

Sure could be a typo...I've never noticed it before...

The TR-100 might be the more important document, and it appears to be correct for the investigation process...

The application just gets the packet to ya I figure...

BTW, I can only confirm what you've seen...I have my renewal packet coming in next week...

The instructor crew here might elaborate on this some...

You should have rejected that form and made DPS send you a new one. Then when they did, put it at the bottom of the pile and restart the 60-day clock...oh wait, I guess that doesn't work in reverse.

Having been born where I was (within the continental US) I cannot answer "City, State, County"

What they actually want is the city and state of your birth, OR the Country if not in the US.

That the forms don't agree was my point. Since the directions are line by line (Last Name: Place your last name here...) I thought it funny.

I still can't answer it, the only state I was born in was naked.

OK. What's the secret? You can be born in the United States but not in a state if you are born in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or a bunch of other territories. You could also have been born in Alaska or Hawaii before 1959. Or maybe you were born on a ship?

Well, one of your answers hit it, so I'll narrow it down, I was born within the confines of the continental US.

My grandmother, OTOH, was also not born in any state, but was born within the continental US, and not in D.C.

Both of my parents were born in D.C. also, so it's been a long time family joke - when asked what state we were born in - "NAKED!"

Your grandmother could have been born in Arizona, New Mexico, or Oklahoma before they were states (all in the 20th century).

Or she could have been really old and born in Texas when it was a republic.

NM, and her brothers and sisters were born in similar territorial locations.

Can't fool anybody on this forum, I have stumped people for years with those, highly educated gunners found here.
