Why Won't You Remember Me?

#1

Post by pastor1 »

Hello:
When I log in, I always check the box "Remember Me", but it never does when I come back to the website. My computer is set to accept cookies from this site. I have no problems with other gun forums except this one. Any suggestions?

You might have a corrupted cookie or something. Try clearing your cookies.

Also, make sure the time and date on your computer is accurate.

I have the same problem. It sure is frustrating, but each time I log on I check the "remember me" box and each time I need to log in again. The computer's time and date are fine, and this is the only site where I have that problem.

It took me a couple of weeks to get my computer here at work to remember me. I just kept checking the remember me box and then one day it worked.

This sight used to remember me. Since I got a new Dell with Windows XP it doesn't remember me anymore.

I feel your pain. But it is worth the trouble to log in every time.

If your computer is running any type of anti-spyware software in the background, you may have to open that up and specifically tell it to allow the cookie. Otherwise when you close your browser, poof it's gone.

Also, try bookmarking the "already logged in" home page, instead of the "pre-logged in" home page.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

Another quick thought is to try not clicking the "Log Out" link when you're through reading. Just close your browser. Logging out releases the session ID--also stored as part of the cookie--and this might be part of the problem.

Are you getting to this site via a Favorites bookmark?

If so, right-click on the bookmark and left-click on 'Properties'. What's the URL? If it's http://www.texaschlforum.com/ this may be causing a problem - I was not able to log in at all as long as that was the URL.

After poking around I figured out that the URL had to be http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum/ in order for me to be able to login.

With Internet Explorer, go to Tools, select "Internet Options", select "Privacy" tab, then "Sites", then type in texaschlforums.com and then select "Allow".

This will allow cookies to be accepted from this web site.

It worked on my Windows PC.

One other thing could be the texaschlforum instead of texasshooting domain names. Make sure you are logged in to one and that is the one you come back to every time. Clear your cookies and start over (Yeah, I re-remembered this yesterday at my work computer after the DNS change last week).

Yep I have the same problem. I guess I'll pick through this computer this afternoon and figure it out.

I've tried everything I know, and still have to log in every time.

Not a big deal, and well worth it.
