"Carry or Not Carry That is the Question"

#1

Post by Gunny007 »

So I'm getting married October 27th, 2012. And, my fiance suggests that I don't carry on the wedding day because my tuxedo will be slim fitting and may bulge, there will be armed security there and I will be hugging a lot of people and they may feel my gun on my hip.

Now she is a gun lover herself and fully supports me and my second amendment right, but she is not so fund of me carrying on our wedding day. She did make some good point on why I shouldn't carry.

My question would you carry or not carry? Did anyone carry on their wedding day? What are some alternate carry methods to eliminate her concerns? I've carried everyday for over a year now, it would feel pretty weird standing up there with no pistol on my hip.

I'm not you, but I"d carry I'd feel nekkid without it and I would not need anything making me MORE nervous on a day like that.
.... "hug low" so their arms go to your shoulders instead of your waist.
I hug low a LOT ... every Sunday at church. Usually I lean in with right hand low to raise their arm if they try to go low. By "landing position time" I usually get a shoulderblade pat on the back from whoever is hugging my neck.

Our church treasurer came over to my house 2 weeks ago while I was doing yardwork and I put on a T shirt since I knew she was coming, the seldom carried revolver's rubber grip caught on my shirt and she said "are you wearing a gun?" I replied "always" ... been hugging her weekly almost since 2001, been armed daily since 2009 and that's the first day she knew I was armed.

I dunno your inventory, but I might carry a small .32 or .380 instead of my normal larger primary to compromise and keep peace with the female gendered person.

Unless it's a shotgun wedding do you really feel the need?

And, if youre planning to drink a toast or two remember the minimum bac while carrying is zero.

Not correct, but the issue has been beaten to death in other threads so feel free to search. :tiphat:

To the OP. I would think a Smart Carry would be a fine option. I am not a big fan of smart carry search but it does have a time and place IMHO.

That reminds me... an Arkansas man recently asked that his marriage be annulled on the grounds that the
shotgun was NOT loaded. :-)

I think you mean maximum, but it's really a moot point since there is no minimum or maximum BAC. It only matters whether or not the officer thinks you are impaired.

Also, I would make the decision to carry or not after getting the Tux and deciding whether or not I could conceal my weapon well enough.

I was in the Dominican Republic on the beach when I got married, so I was not carrying.

The hugging thing is a valid concern: Depending on the amount/type of dancing you plan on doing, ankle carry might be a viable alternative for your wedding.

Or if all else fails, if there is going to be armed security on the premises anyway...make your wife happy on her wedding day and abide by her wishes. Doesn't mean ya can't slip a solid knife into your pocket just to have SOMETHING on ya though.

Excellent point. :iagree:

Sounds like a trip to the store to shop for something smaller and easier to conceal.

Congratulations on your marriage Gunny!
I wouldn't worry so much about the hugs. What about the dancing? Another thing to consider about your carry method is if you are going to take off your jacket.

Smart carry would work well my husband uses it all the time. I'd carry, makes me nervous when I don't. Congrats!
