I cant stand Chase because of how difficult they make the most basic transaction for any non account holder
Just cashing a check at Chase is a HUGE pain. Stand in line at the teller - just to be told you have to "Talk " to a "Banker"
Then explain why you dont have an account, actively refuse the sale pitch and the personal questions. What should be a 2 min transaction turns into 20 min.
Looking for other options - preferably ones that have locations nation wide
If you came into my business and took up some of my resources, I'd also try to pitch you.
Look at it this way, they have nothing to lose since you're not currently a customer.
If they convince you to open an account, they win.
If they don't convince you and you finish your business and leave, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
If they inconvenience you a bit, then maybe next time you'll just deposit that check into your own bank account and not take up any teller time at an institution that has no business with you to offset the expense of the transaction. They are providing you, a non customer, with service at their expense.
I'm no Chase "fanboy", but of all the big international banks, Chase has been the easiest for me to do business with.
I sure do miss Bank One. They were by far the best.
IMO, YMMV
