I'm a marketing guy. Here's what I'd do:

Pick a gun out at your dealer of choice, and decide how many to buy.
Seek out the manager, explain what you are doing.
Tell him you want his absolute best price in exchange for marketing:
At each class you tell them you have guns available to rent, show them the pistol, explain the features/functions, and tell them the price and where to get them. Offer them a card from the store with your own stamped info on the back. If possible you could have the store information put on the gun somehow.

Then rent them for $10 plus sell them ammo.

You might even work a deal to give them their rent payment back as a $10 coupon toward the purchase of the gun at the store. that would give the store manager additional feedback.
That would work.... but this is Brownwood.....

Longtooth, my instructor, had 2 Berretta 92's he let two young ladies use to qualify with. Both pistols functioned flawlessly and both ladies passed easily. Don't believe he charged a fee.

My son has a Lorcin he might let you buy cheap. It's been known to jam "occaisionally" though. :biggrinjester:

Folks, the purpose of the Marketplace section is to buy, sell, or trade firearms or related products.

This conversation has strayed way beyond that.

I'm moving this topic to a more appropriate place...

In case anyone took my post serious... I was using a bit of dry humor. I do believe Glocks are a thing of beauty... But I wasn't actually mad because some of you folks have a less refined sense of taste than I. Maybe it is like having an ugly dog. You think he is cute because you got him as a puppy. Everyone else thinks you should shave his rump and start training him to walk backwards. :biggrinjester:

That Glock needs a face transplant.

After watching this forum going on four years now, I have yet to see anyone give away a gun. I did see a Coyote Special LCP go for less than three hundred not long ago. That model gun is getting five hundred or better on gunbroker all day long. Only a thousand were made and they arent going cheap. That kind of steal is pretty rare around here. Your best bet is to do as already suggested earlier and buy a less expensive new weapon for three hundred bucks.... In 9mm. If your looking for a hundred dollar gun, most likely it will be stolen or dangerously low quality. If your student has a gun blow up in their face that you provided, get ready to lose everything you own.

I actually thought the thread was on topic. You asked about finding a cheap ugly gun and most responses were advice on this level. Truth is, you will get more attention for your search on this forum anyway, so the mod actually did you a favor. :thewave

I do have NRA liability ins. Also signing of a waiver. I do not advertise a loaner, but folks ask if they can "borrow" a gun. Don't know if that matters, but would seem to make it more of a favor/
