Signature line....
Why is the signature line limited to 255 characters?
Is this a limitation or default value of the board software or can it be adjusted up or down by the administrators?
If it were possible to adjust it up to, oh say 300 or so, a person that I know who is very close to me would be able to use his favorite sig line on his favorite forum.
BTW..here's my usual sig line:
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws only make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assassins; they serve to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson

Re: Signature line....
Although I know nothing about PHHP typically a number like 255 is a hard coded. it is the value of the largest 8 bit charactor.RKirby wrote:Why is the signature line limited to 255 characters?

No, that's not it. The software had a default signature limit of 255 and I changed it to 300. Your banner was not characters.casselthief wrote:It's my fault. I was posting banners and gif's and the powers that be were not impressed.RKirby wrote:Why is the signature line limited to 255 characters?

Not at all. I just didn't want you to think it was your photos that limited the signature line.casselthief wrote:honestly, I was kidding around.
most php forums have a default signature length.
hope that wasn't taken out of context, least too much. it was meant tongue in cheek.
