Kythas wrote:Some new info has come out which corroborates Zimmerman's claim of self defense. Apparently, there's a witness who saw Trayvon Martin on top of Zimmerman, beating him. That account is consistent with the evidence police on the scene reported, which was that Zimmerman was bloody and bruised on his face and head and the back of his shirt was wet and had grass stains on it, consistent with a struggle on the ground. This is why he wasn't arrested at the scene.

That changes the whole story now? The shooter was on the ground being pounded, on top is Mr. Martin. An eyewitness with 911 on the phone seeing everything. The witness said the one laying on the ground was screaming for help. This make the shooter not BSing. One can't retreat if he was pinned downed.

This is why the PD did not arrest.

My jury is out as well. Rarely is anything as it seems 'round here. It is either a) Zimmerman had a Florida-sized chip on his shoulder and was in the mood for trouble or b) Martin was up for trouble but wasn't prepared for the consequences. I really believe that it was a bit of both. My gut is telling me that Zimmerman was possibly defending himself, but if he was the catalyst to Martins reaction, I think he'll get in a bunch of stink for that.

I know it sounds kinda harsh, but a lot of the times these kids are trouble and that's putting it mildly. It's a shame that it happened from many fronts and it's a real stinker that everyone with an agenda is now hitching their horse to this incident and adding their own spin. Whomever is proven wrong, I'm sure we'll never hear a retraction or apology for inciting further problems.
Cheers!

This Florida lawmaker who pushed through SYG law does a good job fending off the typical hyperbolic attacks from this moronic CNN "legal analyst" (who seems to think we should all be required to retreat if confronted BECAUSE we carry a gun :banghead: )

Wondering if Zimmerman will again have to "stand his ground" if these thugs attempt their "citizens arrest". Sounds like a modern day lynch mob in the making.

The statement the police took from Zimmerman claims he was retreating back to his SUV when Martin jumped him from behind. Physical evidence seems to support his story.
A lot of unknowns in this case. People should not rush to judgement before all the cards are on the table.

Are they going to go there armed? If not, they're going to have an awfully hard time actually arresting him without getting shot. And if they DO go there armed, then they are going to themselves be guilty of some very serious felonies. What a bunch of morons. It would be reassuring to know that the Sanford PD is going to intercede to stop such an attempt before things get out of control.

Plus, they plan to turn him over to federal authorities..........on exactly what federal charges?

Actually it is not funny at all.

The choice to empathise and try to reach the public (those trying to spin this into a circus act) while speaking in general terms that the law will be upheld (paraphrased) is a wise one. However this turns out, I hope the law is upheld and that lawmakers do not fold due to public opinion.

That's inconsistent with mainstream media policy, which states that all opinions that inflame the public should be treated with reverence (because it drives up advertising revenue!).

It's interesting how this has progressed though. One thing that's clearly in Zimmerman's favor though: Al Sharpton's batting average is abysmal when he decides to back a "cause" and fans the flames of media attention. Still, that man has more teflon than the entire Apollo missions put together.

When the legislators wrote disorderly conduct to include speech, I think they meant speech like the guys offering a "dead or alive" reward for Zimmerman, not somebody saying a four-letter word.

Lawmakers trying to get Justice Dept. to look into all "Stand Your Ground" type laws:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/03 ... latestnews

And apparently the new black panthers have put a $10k bounty on Zimmerman:

http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/news/2 ... zimmerman/

This is getting ridiculous...just a bad situation getting a whole lot worse.
