If the homeowner did not report them missing/stolen, how did not police know who to contact? I am hoping that maybe one of the cases had the contact information.

All the police had to do was look the serial number numbers up in the Texas Firearms Registry database on their iPhones.

Seriously, lots of explanations. One of the arrested individuals spills the beans during questioning and tells where they came from, the owner had his name, address and phone number on one or more of the cases, etc.

My count is 18 handguns in the photo.

The homeowner may have been at work when his collection was stolen.
That would seem to be the only logical explanation as to why he didn't know they were gone.

Good police work. I've read so many messages from people complaining about routine traffic stops, for things like a tail light out, headlight out, license plate light, no turn signal, etc.

People fail to take into account all of the routine traffic stops that find criminals with warrants,and go on to find things like stolen property, and other contraband.

...Don't break the traffic code. I would love to have nothing to do at work - I get paid whether people break the law in my zone or not. I've cleared out hundreds of burglaries, dope dealers, drunks, and warrants through simple traffic stops for wide right turn, or fail to signal within 100 ft of turning. It is no different than any other self initiated profession like sales, marketing, or construction (to some degree).

So - to seriously answer your question...My ratio is pretty high, I'd say I hit something bigger probably 1 out of 3 minor violation stops.

...no, they're skinnin' rabbits...and there's more than one way to do that...and if it were your guns recovered, you'd see the good done by "inconveniencing" those who were violating an "unimportant, trivial" type law...kudos to the officers!!!
