Hoping these are the same punks who've hit two houses on same street in Leander recently, assaulting their victims with electric discharge weapons ... those two need a bullet

Good for the homeowner. Good for the BG that got shot.

This is the 2nd home invasion in Temple this week. An the earlier one the thugs got away with lots of stuff, and supposedly knew the residents.

If it was the same pair, glad they're going to be off the streets.

Home invasion robberies are probably the crime that scares me most! Anyone crazy enough or doped up enough to kick in the door of a home with people in it are unpredictable as it gets! For Pete's sake, burglarize my home while I am gone!!! What the heck is wrong with people? My reaction to a home invasion robbery would probably be something less than civilized. Everything in me would want to remove them from the human race.

Let's think about this with regard to home invasion robberies:

Many burglaries happen during weekdays, when the burglars assume that the residents are at work.
But many people work off-shift (2nd or 3rd shift) and are home during daylight hours.

So a "burglary" can become a "home invasion" when the homeowner is home during the daytime.
Solution - Carry at home as you would outside, i.e. onbody.

Sheesh.

I work from home almost every day so I do exactly this for exactly that same reason. Although sometimes I haven't dressed enough to carry on body so I just put it in the desk drawer.

Yep. If its not on me, its within easy reach anytime I'm at home.

Ditto. I work at home, and I always have it within reach or on my body (usually on my body).

I haven't had any real issues, but I've had times where I was glad it was on me when someone comes to the door uninvited or I hear something outside that is unexpected. The door in particular is key because I want them to know someone is at home, but I won't open it usually.

In a way, it almost makes more sense to carry at home than when out and about. I don't know the odds, but I would bet the odds are similar to whether you'll need it for self defense when at home during the day. Most day crimes likely happen at homes for the very reason stated above. I don't know this for sure, but I am hypothesizing here. Also, when you're at home, you're basically trapped vs. in a public area, there's usually multiple ways to come and go. Lastly, the last place I want to be unarmed when I need my weapon, is at home. If I'm in public unarmed, I feel better about my odds of getting away or not being the targeted individual, but at home... it's all me and my family who is the target.

I am a SAHM and home invasions (while not prevalent where I live), are one of my most serious concerns. I am home 90% of the time. That is why I got a OWB retention holste. Much more comfortable and easier to carry. I did have to explain it to a neighbors child when they came over, but that went ok. I just can't imagine being downstairs with my kids and have thugs try to kick down my door, then going upstairs to get the gun from the safe...not going to happen. So I OC around the house.

I don't carry on my person at home but I have handguns "stashed" all over the house. I can have a gun in my hand from any room I am in within seconds. I don't have any little ones at home so it is not a problem having weapons within easy grasp.

I would think different if I had kids running around the house.

Please excuse my internet ignorance, but what does "SAHM" stand for. I pretty much get that your a mom and married. I was just wondering what the initials meant.

You got it! Stay at home mom. Sorry all the acronyms of the Internet can be hard to figure out sometimes. It took me forever to figure out what IMHO meant!
