Normally, I am not a fan of warning shots, but this one seemed to do the trick, causing the BG to give up...........come to think of it, I am not much a fan of chasing down BG's either. Glad it turned out the way it did, though.

I think the guy is just wired to respond. He did what he thought was right "at that moment". Neighbor screaming for help (bloody murder).
Screams heard throughout the neighborhood for help. He was physically able to assist, and did just that. I'm glad it turned out OK. BG got caught, no one got hurt.

Although I was pleased at his actions, and showing his carry piece, I was a little
surprised that he had his gun in his hand for so much of the taped news piece.

I'd like to think that with a nice pistol like that, that he actually has a proper holster.
On camera he just shoved it in his waistband, Mexican carry style.

Can someone ID the make/model of his pistol?

I got the idea that the gun stays at home (no holster). Also looks like the news crew wanted the gun in his hand (reenactment purposes) for the interview.
Did anyone else catch an accent suggesting the US was not his country of origin? If this is the case, I wonder if the country he is from would have allowed him to defend his neighbor in such a manner? I'll take immigrants like him everyday of the week.

I could be wrong but I thought it was a Desert Eagle 0.50 caliber.

That may help explain why the BG was quickly convinced that surrender was the way to go. A Ruger LCP might not have had the same result......(tongue firmly in cheek)

Exactly what it is. I'd hate to have to carry that around with me all day...

That was not smart. It is intentional failure to conceal and if he has a license, it is grounds for revocation.

They mentioned at the end of the video that this is the THIRD time he's intervened in the last 15 years.

Not if he was on his property when interviewed, which is what it appeared happened. Not sure I'd have wanted my house number appearing on TV, though. At least he had good trigger-finger discipline when handling the gun and didn't shoot himself in the groin with the bandito carry.

Good point. I didn't look at the video and made the assumption that he was in front of a business because the window looked like it had lettering or graphics in the still image on the page. In reality he was on his property, so he would be legal.

Sounds Scandinavian to me, as does the name Melartin.
