Deputy shot the driver through the window with the girls inside the vehicle? Did all of the summoned backup walk in? Is that the reason no one blocked the Marine's vehicle, or took the keys, when the marine took a 'walkabout'?

Something about this story stinks to the high heavens.

That's not what it said. It said it was initially thought that he was in fear for his life, but when they interviewed him, he told them he feared for the safety of the girls.

Interesting. I hope the dash-cam and the other deputy's accounts match those of the girls, cause at first blush, this doesn't sound like an outright case of justifiable homicide on the part of the deputy.

There are great police officers, but this is not one of them. Police should be elected officials who could be ousted from office for bad behavior. This is definitely bad behavior. With the increasing militarization of our police force, events like these are increasingly common. With affirmative action programs, qualifications become increasingly irrelevant as prerequisites for hiring. That's why I have my own dashcam and I urge y'all to do the same for a measly $20-30 on ebay. What would be even better is a dashcam that can post to youtube immediately wirelessly so that the cops cannot delete it. I had a cop try to give me a ticket for running a red light when I did no such thing. It was the end of the month and he was trying to fill his quota. I pointed out my dashcam and politely told him that he might be mistaken. So, he wrote me a "warning" instead. Ugh....

Just be careful out there. The uniform is no guarantee of an upstanding citizen. Just like the rest of the general population, there are good and bad cops. The profession seems to attract a lot of power tripping control freaks who'll KILL you for disobeying an "order". The marine was not armed and did not threaten the police officer. He simply disobeyed an "order" and was killed for it. Ugh....

Bet you anything that this will be ruled another "justified" shooting just like the one in Las Vegas a la Erik Scott !

We have a very similar situation here in va. Not all the details are the same, but it is similar. Sad and scary all at the same time. As my dad told me, "you can be right and dead at the same time. So never EVER get into an altercation with the police. If they are wrong/nasty/whatever comply peacefully, then fight it out with the judge later. Not all police officers are good, don't give a bad one a reason to beat/shoot you.". All that said my prayers go out to everyone involved here.

There is a lot that isn't being said and I will refrain from speculating about the officers(s) involved. I really do dislike it when people describe the victim, after the fact, as a very good normal person as if the officer should've divined his whole life history upon first contact. I don't doubt the family and friends description of the man but theres a first time for everything. He was normal...until that one day he wasn't anymore. It happens.

Its kinda like this whole Whitney Houston thing and the family outcry we hear when some gang banger gets killed during a car jacking. Everyone wants to overlook the last years of her life when she was off the rails insane and say they can't believe this happened, she was (as in past tense) such a great person and singer. Sorry that reality keeps getting in the way of peoples fond memories...

without alot of info? I would ask why he didn't immobilize the vehicle first ? it was against the fence correct? take out a tire or two. but at 4 am who knows
hope there is a REAL investigation on both sides, maybe NCIS( the real one) will get involved as well since the a Marine was killed.
