I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

Well that is a fantastic story.
Sounds like the lady did everything right, well maybe she should have aimed a little better.
You know what they say about a momma bear with her cub.
So what is up with 911. I thought the whole purpose of 911 and why we pay all these extra fees is so that they can get help here quickly.
The social services women in Washington who took the kids over for visitation with their killer dad, couldn't convince the 911 operator that it was a real emergency, took 8 minutes for 911 to finally send some one.

Unfortunately, many breeds that were once imposing and great protectors have effectively been neutered and had their teeth removed by the AKC and their policy that a dog should not bite under any circumstance. There are some that you just can't breed the protective instinct out of, but the Mastiff, Great Dane, Doberman, and others are mere shadows of what they once were and should be. Fortunately, the human was able to take care of herself and her family.

I really don't think a dog is much better than an alarm. It'll alert you and MAYBE scare someone away, but if they want in and want your stuff, it'll just delay them a little. At best they may opt for a softer target. At worst, they put a couple of rounds in Fido and then proceed with their business.
Cheers!

There is much truth to what you're saying. However, the way I raise and train my dogs it will take a gun to get around them.markthenewf wrote:I really don't think a dog is much better than an alarm. Re: Dogs are not a panacea
I want a dog for an alarm system that wags it's tail and plays fetch. Sadly I generally expect that if there is a serious situation that my pup will catch the first bullets, but better them than my kids. If they give me the 25 second arming that there is something amiss they have done their job.
