Looking for a new gun grease.

Any argument for or against white lithium grease?

I've been using it alot on motorycle stuff and got curious.

That's what the Wilson Combat grease is. I don't know if it has any other additives specific to guns, but the base material is a white lithium grease. I've been using it on my pistols for several years now and had no problems with it.

I will say two things, pro and con, about using the Wilson Combat product.......which I would assume apply to other similar products too......

1) On the pro-side, it keeps my guns from staining my clothing. The grease stays where you put it. Since you're placing it on internal surfaces, it doesn't come into contact with your clothes, holster, etc., and it doesn't find its way out of the gun.

2) On the con-side, it takes more solvent, brushing, etc., to get it out of places like slide-rail grooves when you're cleaning the gun.

Also, I only apply it to things like rails, barrel/bushing mating surfaces, locking lugs, barrel/slide mating surfaces, any bearing surfaces on the underside of a slide.......that kind of thing. I still use a regular gun oil for places like the barrel link or the hammer on a 1911, trigger mechanisms, that sort of thing.

i use Brian Enos Slide Glide Lite for my pistols and now my AR. A light coating on the normal lubrication spots and you are good to go. I lubed a pistol that i never use and kept it in the safe. After a year, the slide glide is still there. Like most greases, it stays where you put it.

I use Lubriplate which is lithium based. It has worked great on my Sigs.
It is sold at Brownells although I bought a 14 oz can at my local aviation supply house. It has great protection properties.

I use "Shooter's choice" (all weather, high-tech grease).

Totally agree, I have a Sig 250 with over 15k rounds through it and there is no noticable wear, I just apply it to the slide and rails so it just looks wet, even use a very light coat on my rifle bolts.

I use hopp's grease in guns like my AK's or handgun slides. My friend uses axle grease. Honestly you can't tell much difference.

I recently picked up something called "froglube" but I'm putting that through it's paces right now.

A friend of mine with HPD says Frog Lube is what their armorers are promoting. Their video demo is pretty impressive.

I'll probably be getting that when my Militec-1 runs out.

For oil, I use Automatic Transmission fluid. It stays longer and is super cheap.

I've used white lithium grease for years... I smear a light film on the frame rails and use 1-2 drops of oil in the slide slots and the combination of the two has been flawless for years. (never dries up, and doesn't run out)

When it turns black- it's probably just time to clean your gun.

I put a generous amount on my 10/22 last time I cleaned it. If it can stop the grime buildup on that I'll be sold.

It seems to be kind of waxy which seems would help repel water and lower viscosity when it heats up. I think some of their claims are ridiculous: "dissolves petroleum products on contact" and "absorbs into the metal" come to mind. BUT if it can keep the lasting properties of grease without becoming sludge too fast, it'll be worth it IMO. It's also non-toxic.

Anybody use Rig?? Used it for years on my blued rifles, etc. Have been mostly using G26 spray on pistols for a while now.... Always looking for something better/easier

I've been using tetra products for years, both the grease and oil. Seems to work well.

I used Shooter's Choice on the slide of my my STI .When I sent it in to STI for repair I was told to not use grease on it because the tolerances were too tight.
