60 days today....Now "Background Complete"
Oddly, have been looking forward to today, as it marks the day that DPS says I am "overdue". Packet received by them on November 28th, and have been in review since then.
Have a couple of legal blips on the ol' background, but nothing that would (or should) disqualify me, and from a long time ago. Sent all the court documents, duly certified by the courts, plus a nice little note briefly explaining the charges, in the event there was any question.....but still 2 months and nothing but the precanned "don't bother us until 30 days are up" email. So Monday morning, I am finally going to call to find out what is holding this up. Did my online application in the first part of November to crying out loud!!!
Hopefully soon....

Re: 60 days today....
Those are business days not calendar days. By my reckoning, you are up to 40 business days don't forget the Christmas/New Year/MLK holidays they throw a monkey wrench into the works. Call 'em but they still have about four more weeks.
If you think DPS is slow try dealing with the VA.

The email I received would indicate the 60 days is calendar, not business....thank goodness.MoJo wrote:Those are business days not calendar days. "A review of our records indicates that your completed Texas Concealed Handgun license application was received on 11/28/2011. You must allow 60 days for processing. We do not consider your application overdue until after 1/28/2012."
Even then, 60 days from 11/28/11 is not 1/28/12, but no matter....they indicated that it is now overdue, so they are getting a call tomorrow morning just after 8 am. Not sure it will help though....

Have heard this from way too many people. Shame. You vets deserve a lot better than that.MoJo wrote: If you think DPS is slow try dealing with the VA.

Re: 60 days today....
My 60 days was today so I sent them an email. They quickly wrote back that they were "working on having it printed".
I just find it a little ironic that they can instantly tell you where you're at in the process but they don't spend a lot of time letting you know that unless you ask. Almost makes the website pointless. However, I guess it does give you a place to appease yourself while waiting.

Hopefully, it will move quickly and you'll have your plastic soon.
Re: 60 days today....
Well I called them, and talked to some gal, but missed her name. She took my info, looked me up, and said that a technician was working on it. She asked if I had received any requests for more information, and I told her I had received nothing, and that I enclosed all the certified court documents with my packet, so couldn't imagine what could be missing, but would love to help out in any way I could, etc....
So, she took my number, and said that the technician would call me. That was Monday morning. Should I be shocked that I haven't heard a thing back? I had hoped that my status would magically change to being manufactured, but no such luck. Maybe a follow up email? Worth a shot I guess....

Either the squeaky wheel does, indeed, get the oil....or my timing is very uncanny. Sent my follow up email late last night, and "went green" this morning, an am "Manufacturing Pending"!!!
It would appear the wait is almost over!!!
Plastic not in hand, but this deserves a banana dance.....

Congrats! My status also magically changed this morning to "Manufacturing Pending". Maybe they'll be mailed out Friday and we'll get our plastic early next week.
