SC - Waffle House customer shoots and kills armed robber

A customer, who is a concealed weapons permit holder, thwarted the robbery by pulling his gun and attempting to hold the men until deputies arrived. When one of the men pointed his gun at the customer, the patron fired, killing the teenager.

During a news conference Saturday night, Wright said even after the masked men entered the restaurant, the concealed weapons holder waited until the robbers began ordering customers to the floor and employees into the back - while waving a gun - to act. After pulling his .45-caliber Glock, the customer ordered the men to stay put until deputies arrived. Only after Williams pointed his Hi-Point 9mm at the man, did the customer fire, Wright said.

Good to see a pro-concealed carry Sheriff. Prayers for the guy that had to shoot the robber. He will have to deal with a lot of post shooting stress.

Wright did not release the name of the customer, saying with one suspect still on the loose, he did not want to put the man in danger. The sheriff said he would release the name of the man, who is local and in his mid 20s, in a week.

If I were in the good guy's shoes I wouldn't want the Sheriff to release my name AT ALL for fear of retaliation.
With just a name and a few minutes on the internet it is wayyyyyyy too easy to find someone and where they live.
If he is worried about the customer being put in danger by the release of his name does he really think waiting a week will decrease the likelihood of someone hunting him down and looking for a little revenge?
I'm willing the bet the two thugs involved in this case aren't the only two bad apples in their group of friends.
Even if they catch the second kid there are probably more that a few other of his buddies that would be happy to go out looking for a little retribution.

If a person wants to find out who the shooter was, it won't be that hard, wheter the name is relased or not. However, I agree that blasting it all over the media is not a good idea; not as much from a retaliation standpoint as him getting hounded by media for interviews, etc.

Well, whatever the case, if I'm involved in a shooting the less people that know the better as far as I'm concerned.
I don't want to feel like I'm constantly having to look over my shoulder.

As a sometimes patron of various Waffle Houses, I wonder whether the shooter was sitting at the traditional counter with his back to the door or in a booth? In either case, GOOD JOB!

I'm just giving y'all a bad time. I ate at Waffle House once, and it was okay. It's hard to find a place for a good cheap breakfast. I usually try to go to the small independent stores. I have had better luck with them than the chains.

That was more than eight months ago. Did they catch the robbers or do they need more time?

"It makes me angry as an investigator that somebody thinks they are going to get away with it. They are not. It’s just a matter of time. It’s just a matter of time. We are putting every resource we have to try and solve this," HPD Robbery Detective Jeff Brieden said.
