It expired, now what?

#1

Post by Saulnier »

Yup my Texas CHL expired on my Birthday in November 2011. Can I still do a renewal or do I have to take a full blown class again?

Please advise.

As long as it isn't more than 12 months after the expiration date all you need to do is take a renewal class.

but don't do like I do so often ...

don't procrastinate 11.5 months when you have 12 months to do something

hard to believe I actually picked up the CHL app the first year of the CHL being done, but didn't get around to filling it out and taking a class till 2009

Pay for your class today, and we will email you a coupon code for half off another class. You can give it to your spouse, friend, etc. They have a year to take their class!

Hey. At least you know you won't be taught incorrect information started by someone in Austin who doesn't understand the plain English of the 30.06 law. Or worse, understands the law but intentionally lies about it because of their prejudices.

You can renew up to 12 months after expiration and still meet the criteria for renewal (4 hour class and range proficiency). Your CHL-100 will be good for 6 months after completion.

I would advise going to the DPS website and begin the renewal process right now. You will then be notified as to whether you will need to resubmit fingerprints and/or photos).

They're trying to reuse both as much as possible, but some marginal fingerprints are causing problems with the new electronic/scanned formats.

That 1-hr class mentoned above is for a Virginia CHL, not Texas.

It's far easier to begin the process online through the DPS than to go the other direction--but you can go either way, and even go with a full paper submission if you prefer...but either method is slower than online-registration first.

I think he's talking about a particular lawyer at DPS who is full of enough fertilizer to supply every farm in Texas.
