My employee's handbook says something like "weapons of any kind are absolutely forbidden", but then a lot of the employees openly (as in they don't keep it a secret) carry pocket knives without any repercussions, so I guess they didn't really mean what they wrote. In addition to not having much in the way of personal space or privacy, my job potentially involves climbing & crawling around in front of medium-sized crowds (~1,500 people on a good day) in a well-lit area, so I usually disarm & lock it in my car. I pretty much always wear the empty holster, though, both to make re-arming on the way home easier, and so that the lump there will be normal to my coworkers in case I ever start carrying regularly. One of these days I'll get something smaller (I currently carry a P226) and re-evaluate.

I'm actually not entirely certain that I'd get in trouble... I know the GM is pro-gun (and he once said that if anyone should be armed there it'd be me because where I normally sit is one of the few places where someone can actually see what's going on), but I don't think he has the authority to override company policy, and don't want to seek clarification from the HR people because I suspect they wouldn't hold the correct views & then I'd have oral notice and be breaking the law whenever I get preoccupied with something and forget to disarm before I start work.
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

I carry my PT111 in my right front pocket in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster when working + 1 extra 10 round mag.
I'd be fired if I ever had to use it, but it's easier to find a new job than to re-animate myself after being 86'd.
Amen.

Besides, even if you reanimate, most employers won't employ zombies so you lose your job anyway.

Unforunatly, mine stays at home. Work for a school district, so i'm exempted from parking lot carry. No lots or street parking nearby.

No 30.06 signs on the building. I'm not stating or denying that I have it with me but concealed means concealed.

no 30.06 signs on the building i work in, but our company has a "no firearms on company property" policy, so i leave it in the truck. if something were to go down, i'm right next to a stairwell and can make a hasty retreat through an upper-level (key card access only) skywalk to the parking garage and re-arm if necessary. if my exit is blocked, i can kick out a window and have about a 10 foot drop (and a 5 ft gap) to the parking garage. i might break a leg, but at least i wouldn't get shot. and yes, i've watched kung fu movies, so i have at least a 5% chance of making it across the gap (otherwise it's a 10 story fall to the concrete).

i haven't discussed concealed carry with any coworkers, i know at least a handful of them have CHLs but i'm not sure if they carry while on the night shift. really none of my business to ask them, and i wouldn't expect an answer even if i did ask.

What do you use to lock it up? Right now I leave mine in the console. I was trying to think of some way to disguise it, in case my vehicle gets broken in to, maybe in a first aid box or a tissue box? Something thieves wouldn't look in if they did break in. Anyone have ideas?

The really hard part is when I ride my motorcycle, the saddle bags lock but it is a very cheap plastic lock so I really don't feel good about leaving my gun in there.
I have the same problem with the bike, but more so going on rides. Fortunately my company is very gun friendly. The rides suck because more than half the places the groups ride to are 51%. None of us ever drink because we are on bikes and I never feel comfortable leaving it on the bike, even with a lockable saddlebag.

As for leaving it in the console. I have a console vault and keep all kinds of things in there besides the firearm. What is nice about them is that they aren't seen from outside at all. No cable to spy either to note that something valuable is locked up.

Is your parking lot posted? Is it in your employee manual? Otherwise the parking lot should be fine.

I "clarified" the employee hand book the first day I started. I am good now. Of course I work in HR so I have more weight in that decision than most. And btw you would be surprised at how many people in HR are not anti (a lot of people hate us cause we fired them).

I don't have my CHL yet but even when I do, I won't be able to carry at work due to the nature of my job. I drive a company vehicle and the places I work, including my actual place of employment, are prohibited by state law. :grumble

Nothing about weapons in my employee handbook

I just bought a pair of CCW Breakaways for my LCP. (I'll probably write a review on them next week.)

I have too - I have big thighs. Other holsters just won't work for my work situation and me.

When I was working, we could not carry, but could have in locked vehicle. So I would hide mine beside the seat between the seat and console. Great place. Purchase a padded gun sleeve. Works so well, my truck was broken into once. They broke the steering column, trying to steel the truck. That didn't work, so they stole everything out of it. Except the Colt 45 I had hidden. They even took items from under the seat.
Now I build my own items to sell and my boss does not mind, actually, preferrs I carry while on the job.
