So you are in the convenience store when this guy runs in to kill his girlfriend. What's your strategy?

I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

I would grab as many boxes of Gobstoppers as I could and run off.

Hope that the store was posted 30.06 and that you would never have been in there to start with...

Get out of the way. If someone near me is standing like a deer in headlights, pull them out of the way with me.
Shooting the guy won't stop the truck so having a CHL is irrelevant.

If I didn't get turned into a hood ornament when the truck came crashing in I would exit the store rapidly through the new opening and call 911.

My strategy is to start a truck control organization.ELB wrote:So you are in the convenience store when this guy runs in to kill his girlfriend. What's your strategy?
We would demand Congress bans high capacity fuel feeding devices over 10 gallons. There should be a background check with fingerprints, a $200 tax and sign off from local CLEO before someone can transfer or possess a vehicle with a fully automatic transmission, an engine noise silencer, tires larger than 18 and 1/2 inches, or an engine with a displacement over 200 cubic inches except those the Secretary of Transportation finds are particularly suitable for sporting purposes.
We would also demand Congress pass a three day waiting period to buy a motor vehiucle, a full background check before you get a driving license, mandatory retesting and new background check for license renewals, and a law prohibiting trucks inside convenience stores and other places that sell alcohol.
Reasonable restrictions. It's for the children.

Unless you damage the engine block itself, youd have to get very lucky to hit something and immediately disable a vehicle.bci21984 wrote:would a 10mm have stopped the truck?
I don't think any handgun round is capable of doing so. It it's man vs car combat, your best bet is to get out of the away!

Yeah... A mag dump from a Desert Eagle might do enough damage to the engine block in a Peel P50 or something, maybe, if they all hit the same spot. But if the vehicle in question is big enough that getting run over by it would put you in fear of damaging your pants, a handgun won't to be able to "drop" it (and shooting the driver will likely just cause them to floor it as they slump over).74novaman wrote:Unless you damage the engine block itself, youd have to get very lucky to hit something and immediately disable a vehicle.bci21984 wrote:would a 10mm have stopped the truck?
