Under BG Check for 5 weeks

Is this uncommon for someone with an uncommon name and a squeaky clean record.. Or should I call? Which I know won't work.

I have been in the BG Check for three weeks. Have seen some on here get their plastic that sent their papers in weeks after me. Guess you and I got on the desk of someone that needed to burn their vacation time before the end of the year.

Oh, and I don't think they speed it up if you are squeaky clean. I have had chl in the past, lived in same house for 26 years, been at only two jobs in last 25 years and have never had more than a speeding ticket.

If you get to 60 days after DPS received everything, and I mean everything, and you haven't heard a peep from DPS, that's a good time to call.

Nobody told you DPS shut down for Christmas? The wait stinks, but I promise you'll have it before you know it. I also have a Sig P229 that is my first choice (unless one of my others is my first choice for the day) . I just ordered an IWB from Shielded Holsters, on a recommendation (and a try-on) from a friend and fellow-forumer.

And welcome to the forum to you and JP1961! :txflag:

...I wrote up a one-pager that I added to my application...primarily to explain a copule misdemeanor offences from some 20 years ago...but also to give a little more info about me and what I've done since then. I was in the military and served in Desert Storm, went to an Ivy league college for my MBA, have a pretty cool job now that people always want to know more about, been married for 12 years to my college sweetheart and have three boys, etc...

I figured with my two offences (and one was an aggravated assault that was charged as a felony but was dropped to a misdemeanor), top secret military clearance, etc... that mine was going to take months. It barely took a month. I don't know if it worked or not - but I know it certainly didn't hurt. I think personalizing the app a little probably gets it moving quickly if the right person picks it up...

Lucky. Tomorrow marks 9 weeks. Everytime I try calling I spend about 40 mins on hold before losing my patience. Congrats on the update, though.

Strange how some bg checks take much longer. Mine was under review from the 6th and changed to completed on the 16th. :???:
