What pre-paid Legal service did you have before this renewal?
What made you think you needed anything if you didn't have a service during your previous license period?

Do you own a timeshare?
Are you considering a Reverse Mortgage?
Do you have AARP Health Insurance?

Beginning to see my point here?
Actually my mother did the reverse mortgage and she came out quite ahead....

She had refinanced her home to get some needed cash. She now owed $20,000 on the refi plus $12,000 on the orignal note, on a house that would not have brought $40,000 in her neigborhood. HUD did a reverse mortgage, giving her $28,000 for her house AND paying off her note. Paid to have all new storm windows, paint, insullation and she would get to love there no charge until she decided to move or died. Depending on the situation, they can be a God-send.

I am a CHL instructor and I am also a [pre-paid legal] member. I decided to join [pre-paid legal] after seeing first hand how drawing your weapon can wreck your life financially. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I have called each of the attorneys and discussed in length CHL law and have had them field questions that have come up in my classes. Dave in customer service is top notch, and has been available anytime I have needed him. Missi (district manager) has been a pleasure to work with, and has a very upfront, straight forward approach to the class presentation. On average she spends less than 15 minutes addressing my class.

One one occassion I had a massive class, (too many to handle alone) and Mr. Walker (who is also a CHL instructor) volunteed (free of charge) to come up from Houston (to Dallas) and teach the legal portion (CHL Law and Deadly Force) and help me with the remainder of the class. He is a stand up kinda guy!

The way I look at it is like this: If I ever have to retain an attorney after a shooting, it will cost at least 6500-10000 just for a retainer. (thats on the cheap side) That same 6500 will pay for 50 years of total legal representation (criminal and civil) from [pre-paid legal].

I have talked to clients about the service they have recieved from [pre-paid legal] after use of their weapon. One just pulled his weapon, one had to fire his weapon. Both were completely satisfied and were thankful they had the program. (both were charged at the scene, and later charges were dropped)

To me it is worth not drinking Starbucks twice a month to afford the program.

This was quite a positive testimonial... Especially the highlighted part...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.!

I had considered [pre-paid legal] previously. Reading your post prompted me to look at their web site again. One of my major reservations was that [pre-paid legal] did not provide any coverage outside TX. Now they do have an option for this. It doesn't cover every state, but, it's a good start... Even if you only get some peace of mind, it might be worth the price. IMO, YMMV.
I am not a lawyer. This is NOT legal advice.!

When I took my class, one of the guys who worked at the range came in and talked for about five minutes and handed out an info sheet. Not intrusive at all, and it helped to highlight how actually pulling your gun can change your life. I have to admit, I was the first in line at break to sign up for [pre-paid legal]. I am not some young kid who has other people telling me what is good or bad...I got it because it gave me an instant feeling that I could actually carry with some degree of confidence that I was not going to ruin my family financially.

Yeah 5 minutes would have been one thing, but it was a way longer sales pitch than that. They kind of turned the lethal force presentation into the sales pitch which was what really rubbed me wrong. You then must sit there and listen because you paid the class fee so you can't just walk out at that point.
It would have been preferable to tell everyone there would be an optional presentation at the end of class that was not part of our required 4 hours.

I will say that it did make me very aware of the cost associated with pulling the trigger and woke me up to the ability to ruin my family financially. I will be looking into options just not PPL. Maybe [pre-paid legal]? I don't know yet. In just wish I could find someone who has been down this road after a shoot and used these services to give a no biased testimony of what was taken care of and what was not.
