I couldn't agree with you more. Great guy and deserving of the title. I was kind of depressed when he lost to Gary in the first competition but amazed at how he came back to stay in the game. Awesome finish. :thumbs2:

The wife and I were quite distressed seeing Dustin get soundly beat by Gary in the first round of the dueling tree but yeah he earned his way back quite well.
Dustin really just has amazing natural talent and a ton of raw enthusiasm for shooting which made him a great competitor to watch and I bet those who lost to him couldn't ask for a better guy to lose to.

I stopped watching about four episodes in this season. I could deal with the manufactured drama because that is just the nature of reality TV these days, but I couldn't take the host any longer. Watching his facial contortions as he tried to make his voice go from normal dude to SUPER TEXAS was just embarrassing.

I could have even dealt with that if they'd let him do voiceovers instead of just standing behind people shouting the play-by-play. Ugh. Really disappointing because the concept of the show is great and the guys who come up with the courses seemed to have really upped their game this year.

And funny, since it's filmed in Santa Clarita, CA.

You guys may just be too hung up on the host, who by the way is from Texas.

Well the guy is a Texan, but if you watch him when he was a contestant on Survivor, or his appearance on Curb Your Enthusiasm, he doesn't normally sound like that. Nobody normally sounds like that.

You can really tell when he says the word "challenge." He can't Texas it up and his voice goes all nasal.

Meh!

I'm a born and raised Texan and while I think he overdoes it a bit, it doesn't bother me hardly at all.
The show is worth little annoyances like that in my personal opinion.

Oh he doesn't bother me at all. I just think the accent thing is kinda funny sometimes.

Everbody I know who would have loved the last show quit watching a long time ago because of Jake and the drama. If ever show had been like tonights' they would have had a bunch more gun folks watching.
Yeah many folks I know who watch seemed to loose interest due to Jake and stop watching.
I stuck it out and was rewarded with seeing Jake leave like a spoiled little boy who didn't get things his way ("I'm taking my ball and going home!").
Yep. It's a lot easier to ignore the drama when you can fast-forward through it all. If my roommate didn't have a TiVo, Jake might've been too much.
Once he was gone, nothing but great guys and shooters were left and the nicest seeming and obviously most talented took it home.
Yep

Glad to hear it, and yeah I personally find it a bit humorous more than anything.
Now the way he lifts his top lip to display his upper teeth while he talks, which I recall reading somewhere is something coached in actors, strikes me as unnatural.

CEOofEVIL wrote:Awesome finale. Dustin just totally smoked that course! I totally respect Mike though, and was pulling for both of them just the same. The fact that Mike seemed to be totally Zen for the most part had me surprise. Both had great skill.
Yeah, I was pulling for Dustin or Mike; more so Dustin, because being "the nice guy" is something I strive for, and you usually don't see them come out on top. And Mike was called Zombie... you've gotta root for someone called Zombie...
Im glad to see that overall the competitors this season were more honorable (jake excluded ) than last season. Let's hope that next season rocks even harder!
Me too (though I must admit that George's actions in that game of horse changed the first thing that pops into my head whenever someone mentions him).

Yeah he really redeemed himself a lot with that move, though I still think him and the others were really unfair towards Jaime.

I just got to watch my video recording of the finale. And what a GREAT competition!! I was so pleased to see Dustin do such an amazing job of hitting so many targets with one shot. Nice guys sometimes do finish first. :tiphat: to you, Dustin. :clapping:

Way to go Dustin! That was a great finale!

Regarding Colby, there's a thread on Top Shot running over at calguns in which a member of the production team comments every now and then, and even answers questions from forum members. He stated that the producers of the show have assigned Colby a "dialog coach", so some of his odd vocal inflections may be coming from fighting the coaching. If I can find the link again, I'll add it later.

Having received a bit of dialog coaching back in the old days when I was in drama productions, I can sympathize with him having problems changing the way he talks. One might say he should be over it after 3 seasons, but there's a former governor of California who should have gotten over his accent many years ago with all the high-dollar vocal coaches he had access to in all of his movies.
