May consider it or the Grayson County one.
My Son is a LEO in Canada and is considering returning to Texas. He would have to attend one of these to work as a LEO in Texas. I have forwarded the information to him.

Re: My life in the Police Academy
They read us this creed in class this past week I thought it was interesting, I had never heard it before.
If today is to be THE DAY, so be it. If you seek to do battle with me this day you will receive the best that I am capable of giving.
It may not be enough, but it will be everything that I have to give and it will be impressive for I have constantly prepared myself for this day. I have trained, drilled, and rehearsed my actions so that I might have the best chance of defeating you.
I have kept myself in peak physical condition, schooled myself in the martial skills and have become proficient in the application of combat tactics. You may defeat me, but you will pay a severe price and will be lucky to escape with your life.
You may kill me, but I am willing to die if necessary. I do not fear Death, for I have been close enough to it on enough occasions that it no longer concerns me.
But I do fear the loss of my Honor and would rather die fighting than to have it said that I was without Courage.
So I WILL FIGHT YOU, no matter how insurmountable it may seem, and to the death if need be, in order that it may never be said of me that I was not a Warrior.

I heard that one is pretty good too. My husband works Full-time at the community college and has regular interaction with the law enforcement on campus. One of the guys that he has becomes friends with that was at his campus on weekends went to Grayson County and said it was pretty good. He also lives up north as well, so it was easier and quicker for him to go there.

Re: My life in the Police Academy
So the past week has been pretty busy, we started CCP last thursday tested on it Wednesday got a 96 . Now we are in the Penal Code, A hint to everyone with insomnia, read the Penal Code you will fall right to sleep. Some of it is really interesting, like the stuff over theft, burglary, sexual assault etc... but the stuff on financial crimes and computer crimes is as dry as can be. So far the academy is going pretty well, I have the second highest grade in the class, I'm .5 away from the highest grade . For anyone thinking about attending a police academy attitude is everything, if you don't think you can do it chances are you wont be able to.
P.S. I haven't had time to be on the forum much so I hope everything is going ok for everyone.

I really want to work in Round Rock, if that is not possible then maybe Georgetown, Pflugerville, or Hutto.AEA wrote:Sounds good! Glad it is working out for you!

Re: My life in the Police Academy
A buddy of mine I work with lives in Hutto and commutes to our dept. Those areas are nice, but I couldn't give up the dope, foot chases, and gang stuff we get to work with.paulhailes wrote:I really want to work in Round Rock, if that is not possible then maybe Georgetown, Pflugerville, or Hutto.AEA wrote:Sounds good! He applied with RR and Hutto but withdrew after riding with them. When you start applying to agencies drop me a line.

He should go on this website, it is for TCLEOSE..http://www.tcleose.state.tx.us/index.cfm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also, FYI: You have to be a US citizen to even be considered with a department and have to be working here for a year to be considered as well or they won't even touch him.

Re: My life in the Police Academy
What (if any) are the physical requirements of the academy?

Re: My life in the Police Academy
It depends on the academy and what they require, some are real academic based and others real physical.ninemm wrote:What (if any) are the physical requirements of the academy?
Re: My life in the Police Academy
So he still has his US Citizenship? He should look at the TCELOSE website. That will help and give him some insight about what they are looking for and if he qualifies.AEA wrote:He was born in McKinney.

Re: My life in the Police Academy
So I have been quiet for awhile, the academy has been keeping me pretty busy. We just finished up SFST this past week, it was a pretty sweet class and I actually got to put it to use on a ride along with RR where the officer let me watch over her shoulder and look for clues. Next week we have our second comp and we start mechanics of arrest, woooohhoooooooo. We have pretty much finished up most of the book work and now we will be moving into the practical stuff aka fun stuff. It starts with mechanics of arrest, then driving, shooting, stress fire and patrol practicals. All in all its going pretty great, I am second in the class right now, hopefully I can keep that up after this next comp.
Oh yah, for Health and Safety code we went to a head shop in Austin and got to watch the instructor ask question about what everything is used for, it was pretty amusing, one of the employees was getting really uncomfortable... hmmm wonder why?
