There is a fair amount of studying every night and there are a lot of tests, I have already taken two tests this week both of which I passed with a 95 :woohoo. Surprisingly the early morning are not affecting me at all, and I actually find I like them.

That's about right. My husband is in the part-time nights here in DFW and the VA/Hazelwood is paying for the tuition, but with tuition in addition to gear it was about $3,000 total.

Good luck in the academy. I have fond memories (and some not so fond ones) of my time in the academy. :patriot:

Of course it's nice when your expenses are covered, and you are paid to be there. ;-)

Does he have a plan for when he gets out?

I went through it in 2005. It was a lot of studying. Go look at the Victoria College TCLEOSE practice tests. They help a lot.

$3K is a steal. When I went through the TEEX CTPOA it ran the dept over $5K.

I'm thankful I found a dept hiring non-certified candidates - those jobs are harder to come by now more than ever.

GL to the OP. The TCLEOSE isn't bad, just pay attention to TC, PC, and CCP.

He actually is planning on starting to apply in the next few months, probably about Jan/Feb to departments here in the area. He still is working full-time as well, so he'll keep that job until he gets on with a department.

Good luck. Did you have to shave?
Yes, :cryin

First day went great, I will update when I can.
Don't worry. It grows back and they have saved you some time and money. Showers are shorter when you don't have any hair to wash and you don't need to buy shampoo for a while.

Good luck. Study hard.

You're welcome...Is that one that you are thinking of attending? It's a HARD academy and harder than the one at Eastfield from what I've heard and read, but they are good over there.
