im a big zombie film fan. last night i watched the series the walking dead to prepare myself via netflix for sundays second season premier. just wanted a list of yals favorite zombie movies new and old so i can add them to my queue.

my all time favorite is

1. 28days later
2. walking dead series

ive seen many more but these stick out the most
I'm not a huge zombie fan, but I've come to appreciate the genre more recently - in no small part due to the two works you listed above and the book "World War Z" .... my fear now is that with Brad Pitt signed on to do the movie version of WWZ - which ideally would be a pseudo documentary and not a Hollywood action movie - WWZ will be lessened or even ruined for those who haven't read the book - which is amazing in its epic scope.

I guess the only other zombie story I liked a bit was "Shaun of the Dead" which is good low-brow comedy. Never could get into the George Romero films - slow-moving, dumb monsters don't really scare me. Even the zombies of Walking Dead somehow seem a bit more intimidating than the dim-witted meat puppets of the Romero films.

28 Days Later is amazing with the addition of animalistic speed and rage to the zombie - truly frightening concept. The sequal wasn't as good, but was still better than most zombie fiction.

I wasn't a fan of 28 Weeks Later, but I did like 28 Days Later. I think that's the only zombie movie I've ever seen that ended on a happy note.

I also like The Walking Dead. I didn't start watch the first episode until I think they aired episode 5. I thought it was going to be stupid, but everyone kept saying how great it was at episode 5, so I started watching it.

I don't watch the tube much any more but the kids talked me into watching Zombieland (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1156398/) which did make me LOL more than a few times.

Zombieland is hands down the best, unless you like really scary non-funny movies.

...but how could I forget:

Dawn of the Dead ("Umm, fresh brains")
The original Night of the Living Dead
All of the Resident Evil movies, and there's a new one in the works.
hmmm...

Wow, Zombieland totally slipped my mind  . That is a great movie - very funny (the Bill Murray subplot alone is worth the price of admission). That definitely belongs in the top 3.

I liked the Resident Evil Movies but for me their genre fit more into the "Action Science Fiction" category better than straight up Zombie Horror flick.

I really like "Shaun of the Dead".
"28 Days Later" was pretty good, too.
"Zombieland" was OK. I'm not a Woody Harrelson fan.
"The Last Man on Earth"/"The Omega Man"/"I Am Legend" - Three takes on the same novel, "I Am Legend" The newest version, with WIll Smith, is the best of the three.
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

I've never been a big fan either - but he totally nailed that part.

Okay, I just finished watching Shaun of the Dead. It's... humorous. I definitely did not see that ending coming.

They're not many really 'good' ones.

28 Days is not a zombie flick, yet infected. They don't each flesh, they're just filled with rage or whatever. I wont get into that argument though.

Dawn of the Dead (04 remake) - 1

Night of the living dead (original) and the 90's remake - 2

Walking dead series is eh.. ok. They have a LOT of drama going on, and not enough action. The last season was mediocre at best because they didn't answer ANY questions and it was just WAY too short.

I am waiting for War World Z to hit theatres next Xmas just because Max Brooks is just completely awesome with his books and very detailed. Loved it. I'm kind of scared on how the movie will perform just considering hollywood will want to intervene on how it will come out.

I wish there was more of a story behind Dawn of the Dead. Wish that were a series with that type of action and not too much drama like the Walking Dead.

Either way, I'm excited that it's back on and more episodes per season. We'll see how it turns out.

Cheers. :cheers2:

dawn of the dead

shawn of the dead
Those would be my top 3...

The walking dead series is pretty good too IMO.

I'm a fan of the slow, persistent zombie. Seems more macabre.

Sprinting zombies just don't seem right to me, and while Zombie land had em', the comedy element, and BILL FREAKING MURRAY, more than made up for that deficiency.
