I sent a request for a packet in late June, received the packet, got finger printed at my local PD for no charge (2 cards) mailed back to Arizona second week of July and yesterday received my Arizona permit.

Reading the site, with an non-resident Arizona CCW, looks like you gain NV, OH, and WV over the Texas reciprocity agreements. Is that correct?

I know that you can also get OH and WV with a Utah CFP, which I have. I have deliberately avoided Nevada in general, and Las Vegas specifically for years, so I'm not sure if I care enough to spend the $60 bucks so I can carry there. On the other hand, I have a great admiration for the way Arizona handles gun rights, and I might just get their permit just because.

Your Texas license is now good in WV.

Getting an AZ non-resident license gains you only Nevada. So the question is whether it is worth $60 to carry in Vegas.

Your Texas license is already good in Arizona. As far as the Ohio-Arizona reciprocity agreement is concerned, an AZ resident is valid in Ohio, but an AZ non-resident is not valid in Ohio.

A Texas CHL who wants to carry in Ohio has three choices. A VA non-resident license gets you only Ohio. A FL or UT non-resident license gets you both Ohio and Washington. Utah is cheaper than FL, but it requires UT-specific training.

While i am glad to hear that an AZ non-resident license will be recognized in NV. I still have a question about Las Vegas.
I seem to recall reading that Clark County and LV have felt free to set their own levels of enforcement that disregard the
greater NV laws. True or not? If true, the AZ license might avail you outside of Clark County, but not be much help in
LV which is where most of us might head.

Clark County doesnt treat CCWs any different than any other county on Nevada.

As far as qualifying the last time I re-upped my permit you had to show proficiency on an semi-auto to carry that and a revolver to carry that. Not on each and every gun you "might" carry. It used to be that way but the rules changed.

I have the Arizona permit and Texas CHL and just read through handgunlaws.us for Nevada (again) as we are going to be in Nevada for about 10 days next month. Will be in Las Vegas, Ely and places between. We will be driving so I don't have any worries about the airports, but just to clarify what I read in the information and I also checked the "NV Sheriff’s & Chief’s Association" site http://www.nvsca.com/ccw-retirees.php, the only prohibited areas are public buildings and there is no enforcable signage to prevent CC (or OC from what I can tell) in any business (casino's and bar's included).

Am I reading all that correctly? I didn't carry the last time I was in Las Vegas (which is also the first and only time so far) due to being in Clark county and Vegas for the most part and didn't want to get hassled based on the comments from some about Clark County and Vegas in particular "making their own rules" and not following state law. I know concealed means concealed and all that, I just did not want to be a test case or ruin my wifes birthday.

Oh I also found some other forums that said there was no problem carrying concealled in Vegas or anywhere else, even some groups had done OC on the strip. The posts were old (2010 and earlier), so not sure if anything changed since then. Doesn't seem so, but doesn't hurt to ask and get some confirmation.

I lived in Vegas for 10+ years(1999-2010). If you are going to be in Clark County (that's where Las Vegas is located) I HIGHLY recommend against open carry. Especially by yourself on the strip. A group traveling that way is one thing. By yourself you are asking to be a target for a BG or just some drunk rear. Trust me on this. Carry concealed and you will be just fine no matter where you go. I know there is a bunch of "bad blood" on this forum towards Las Vegas Metro PD, but I never had a problem there with firearms related issues (CCWs, blue cards, etc).

Where you can and cannot carry in NV: http://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRs/NRS-202. ... 202Sec3673 One thing I will point out is that, unlike Texas, the "No Model 19 Revolvers" signs and general "No Guns" statements work as long as they are posted at every entrance OR is the location has a metal detector those serve as legitimate notification to prevent CCW holders from entering public buildings. On private property this also applies but it gets fuzzy as there is no technical violation of law if you carry there even if there is some sign. The owner (or legitimate representative such as property lessee) can ask you to leave because of you carrying and if you fail to comply you are trespassing. Of course, how would they know if you are carrying concealed. The only reasonable time you can't carry on private property is if there are pat-downs and/or metal detectors.

If you get up to Ely (and places in between like Tonopah) you may be able to open carry but again, I recommend against it as it always makes you a target for the BG that is paying attention.

Interesting that NV allows another states CCW. Nevada's CCW is gun specific. You have to have a CCW for the gun you carry. They would then be allowing out of state citizens more rights than their own.

That is no longer the case. You need to qualify on a type (i.e. Semi-auto and/or Revolver).
