My custom reloading station...

#1

Post by v-rog »

I spent yesterday building, painting, varnishing. Today I installed the 4" caster wheels w/locks, the drawer locks, and the drawer liners. I figure I have enough storage space for powder, primers, bullets, scale, and other delicate items. I'll expand as I need to but for now it should work...And the best part is that I'm in the house with A/C!

Are you mounting the press on there?

planning on it. I removed the casters due to too much movement and it also lowered the height of the table which serves me better.

Yeah I was gonna say the Casters are probably not gonna work. Glad it's working out for you.

Yesterday, I talked with AndyC and he brought up a good point. I need to find something to protect the carpet. I would prefer not blowing up my vacuum cleaner (from gunpowder droppings) and I'm sure my wife would agree.

Yesterday, I got the worst bad news that every man fears-

My wife wants me (and she is not asking) to consolidate my footprint in the house. A while back I launched a successful campaign to slowly take over two rooms in the house; the dining room (my current reloading station) and the home study (my computer/ TV room). I thought I had the perfect plan...I should have known something was going on when I began seeing my Army memorabilia disappear from the dining room and reappear in my study.

Last night when I came home and walked into the dining room, my awards and college degrees had been replaced with pictures of the kids- I nearly lost it...to say the least, It was messy.

:confused5 Confused, I walked into my study and saw half of my stuff hung on the wall and the other half in a corner pile- Yes, a corner pile! I'd categorize the whole thing as a war of attrition and it looks like I am on the loosing end.

Soon my reloading station will be in the study. Pictures to follow. And I will hold my ground on this one (I hope  ).

I feel your pain. I remaried 6 1/2 years ago. The only thing IN the house that was here in the beginning is one fish mount,(thank God she likes it) , one ship's wheel, and one hand painted Pacifico beer sign from Mexico. I put my foot down....lightly, and I now have my office with a desk and file cabinet, her treadmill, and a futon. LOL I did get to put my CHL stuff in the closet, but the walls are still her stuff. My clothes and two gun safes are in the guest room closet. I also get to keep one end of my work shop,LOL the rest has decorations in it.

What can I say, she moved fast.

I did get to buy a recliner since I had neck surgery and needed it.

Oh, good looking work station too you got there. :thumbs2:
Carry safe and carry when and where you can. I'm just sayin'.

That top doesn't look thick enough to me. Looks like 1/2 inch thick. My first reloading bench had a 1/2 inch thick top and I cracked it within a week. I mounted my press on a 2x12 after that.

Perfect! A steel plate makes all the difference in distributing the stress.
