Will you be notified before renewal is due?
What kind of a window do you have to schedule a renewal test.
Can you test in advance to avoid a laps.

You should receive a renewal notice. Government Code 411.185(b) requires DPS to send a notice not less than 60 days before it expires.

MY CHL expires/was to expire in November. In May I received a letter from the DPS saying it was going to expire. I went online and paid the fee with credit card, printed the deal they e-mailed me ( had a barcode on it) to send back to them with my CHL-100, which I got from the people I took my renewal class with. Mailed it all in(CHL 100 and e-mail with barcode) around the second week in July, and received my new license this week. Still had months to spare. No complaints.

Weg,

Good lesson in there, and one I hope to mimic. Get it done, and get it done early. I would hate to have my license lapse and then have to stop carrying until I got it fixed up.
