Re: Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston Needs Help!
I just wanted to say that after showing my wife this posting, we now donate to the Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston along with the Houston Dachshund Rescue and the Central Texas Dachshund Rescue. One of these days we are going to adopt another little one but for now they'll just have to take my money.

:( Fostering two at this time. I will cross post this information to all of the rescue organization contacts I have.

Our city has a three pet limit, not sure if they make exceptions for fostering. If I had the time and was home more I'd foster. Until then I just donate money. Good luck with your Schnauzers, they are such sweet dogs.

Mini-schnauzers do tend to schnore. They also love to schnuggle. We have two, litter-mate brothers, just barely a year old. Wonderful dogs!Pug wrote:My contribution to saving mini-schnauzers is snoring my my side...

Miniature Schnauzers...
like rice, raw carrots, chicken, fried fish, fried okra, bell peppers, squash, french fries, raw beef and watermelon.
like to schnuggle.
thinking "bobbing for ice cubes" is great summertime sport!
have a high level of respect for flyschwatters.
are easily amused.
hate being left alone.
bark at strangers and bark at friends, because strangers are just friends not yet met.
sometimes schnore.
know how to give you the "sad big brown eyes".
are schneaky.
are frequently pillow-hogs.
love cats, and wonder why cats don't love them back.
need laptime.
have nosy noses.
know that in any household, they are the welcoming committee.
romp and scamper.
like to smell your breath after you eat.
notice when something is deep-fried, and they don't get any.
don't whine much. (See "sad big brown eyes")
love people, each other, and suppertime.
like to dance.
treat every moment as a new adventure.
We can learn a lot from schnauzers!

Re: Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston Needs Help!
Wow, seeing this thread has moved this forum up a couple of notches in my book. We are a 2 mini schnauzer family, ourselves. We almost lost our 4 year old to an uncommon strain of lepto this year that the lepto shot didn't cover. I am very thankful that our vet didn't throw in the towel, but referred us to a specialist instead.

Re: Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston Needs Help!
Just saw this. My wife and I decided recently that we need someone to take our schnauzer. He is 4 years old and his name is Mudd. He is a wonderfully energetic and smart dog. He is also very shaggy. He has been an outside dog on our half acre lot. We really love him alot and dont want to get rid of him but we just had a baby back in January and Mudd has been low on our priority list. We have not neglected to feed/water him of course but his haircut is overdue. Like the OP said these dogs do not shed. We would prefer to just give him to an individual outright and not go through a rescue organization. He is current on rabies and we also have him on Comfortis (monthly flea/tick pill). We have some of that to go with him as well. If anyone is interested PM me.

Re: Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston Needs Help!
Please don't give your schnauzer away! At least make them pay a donation to a rescue group in order to take him. I regret not doing this in the past.
