He changed it already, he had a link to his club. However it made me think is there a difference between a business and a club? The rules state a business maybe it should be clarified.

I received my CHL the end of July, 2011. My number is 060xxxxx. It's pretty close to 061...

I always wondered why they didn't use the DL number.

Before 2009, the license number was the certificate number that your instructor purchased from DPS.

So, they weren't really sequential, as one instructor might buy all his certificates at the beginning of the year, and others might buy them every month.

Not quite......
There are only approximately 400,000+ CURRENT Texas CHL holders. The license numbers do not reflect the number of holders. They are made up of some other order or possibly just random generation, but definitely NOT sequential.

And I'd be willing to bet that they did not start with 000000001.

According to the State of Texas, there were 461,724 license holders on 12/31/2010. Go to http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... aphics.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. They have all sorts of reports that we all paid some lucky bureaucrat to produce.
