Despite Massachesetts' repressive gun laws? I doubt it. The victim had to have shot himself, since their "sensible" laws allow a citizen to own a gun but also keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Obviously a botched suicide attempt.

Exactly.....but being a lawful gunowner from Massachusetts, he probably didn't get much practice. Too much trouble trying to figure out how to lawfully carry the gun to the range. My guess is that he also had a lot of time on his hands.

A 'contractor' is an entity who does a job of work or performs a service for contractural wages. The news bite seems to paint the 'contractor' as a mercinary. Coulda been someone who agreed to service the pool/hot tub, a security service, or an armed tradesman.
