Wife just stopped by Childress PD

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Most cops won't write someone in scrubs with a medical staff badge on either. Rarely will an ER nurse get written, if the cop knows him/her, or they have their ID on. They all know they may be looking up at our face one day and hoping we can stop the bleeding...save their life. Why they would bother to write a brother officer is way beyond me.

I am sorry I hijacked this thread. I guess it is something that was kind of simmering on the back burner. I will butt out of it now.

...WE all went off on about 4 tangents to the OP...after we thoroughly addressed the OP...I don't hear anyone squawkin', and all tangents were related and everyone seemed to be havin' a good time...I see no foul....

As the OP, No Problem as they say down in the islands.
I am enjoying the stories.

...everyone messes up...sooner or later...most don't get caught...out of the ones that do, less than 10% have the attitude that needs a ticket to make the point...most folks just need a reminder...I hate the idea of writing tickets to produce revenue...I hate quotas...but try getting a city manager to feel the same way...good luck...and I don't believe in luck...
...ameer...I once stopped the Fire Chief...he rolled a stop sign...I fussed at him hard and he thanked me for the reminder...but I didn't hit him in the back pocket...cops don't have to write cops and firemen...it's a brotherhood thing...and they earn every break they get...a cop writing another cop for a minor violation is kinda like that white stuff on top of chicken poop...a DUI is something totally different...there's a no-mercy stop for anyone...
I once wrote a Houston FD for 30/20 (he was doing well over 30). His father (we were all members of the same Masonic Lodge and I knew It.) later told me that it taught him a lesson he needed. Don't speed through school zones. BTW, he took defensive driving.

...din't help me when I was looking down at my pager years ago to see what time it was...I saw the printed school zone with lunchtime times on it...glanced down at my pager on the belt, hit my brakes because it was lunchtime...and she said I was already in the schoolzone when I looked back up...she was watchin' me...and she also told me I couldn't take defensive driving on a schoolzone ticket...Plano...I paid it cheerfully...kids are everything...

That is the difference of a lot of years.

The one I described was over 30 years ago.

I did attend lodge with both the father and son quite a few times over the years after that little situation. I never heard one gripe. He just took it as a wake up call.

No more than writing up a taxpaying plumber for the exact same violation.

Good Old US 287!! It could have been much worse and she could have gotten stopped by Estelline PD, about 17 miles earlier. There would NOT have been a warning. That little town has been a Ticket Factory ever since I can remember, well over 40 years.

In September, 1972, I was on my "youth across America" tour. I had picked up an 18 wheeler driver whose rig
had broken down in Dallas. I was on my way to Colorado. As I dropped him off in Quanah, Texas he warned me
to be careful of my speed in Childress and Estelline.

I made it through those 2 towns without a problem.

But an encounter with DPS, just short of Dalhart, was another matter. :-)
