Holster squeeking
I am using a Crossbreed Supertuck holster with a government 1911 in it and darn if that thing doesn't squeek at the worst times, standing and sitting in church. It is probably not as loud as I think but I do not want it to give me away.
Does anyone else have this problem and how can I fix it? I have not tried anything because I don't want to ruin the horsehide backing to the holster.
Thanks

A little baby powder on the rubber spacers will help until it is broken in good.

Re: Holster squeeking
I had the same issue with mine when it was new. It seems to be a common problem.
Over time, the squeaking went away as the holster broke in.

I have heard the same thing, keep wearing it and it will get better with age. It is less than a year old so I have a long way to go with it. I will try the baby powder and see if that helps.
Would saddle soap help?

Do not use saddle soap on a holster. The baby powder works great.jdanderson wrote:I have heard the same thing, keep wearing it and it will get better with age. It is less than a year old so I have a long way to go with it. I will try the baby powder and see if that helps.

Re: Holster squeeking
Saddle soap softens leather so it shouldn't be used on a leather holster that's formed to the gun. However, I don't know if it causes the same problems for hybrid holsters where kydex molds to the gun and the leather is flat. Better safe than sorry. Don't use saddle soap unless the manufacturer recommends it.MoJo wrote:Do not use saddle soap on a holster. If you're embarrassed 2 buy baby powder ... "Shower to Shower" is the same thing, but attracts fewer single moms since it smells different (yeah they make unscented powders)SAK wrote:A little baby powder on the rubber spacers will help until it is broken in good.
Baby powder is invaluable in hot Summer, I use it between me and the holster to prevent heat rash too.

Does this work with all leather holsters? Will Baby Cornstarch powder work? My Tucker Heritage squeaks like crazy, and so far no one has said anything except my daughter who thought it was her donkey grinding his teeth - fortunately I don't think it squeaks louder than my old joints.

Ok no saddle soap. I will try baby powder. I have quite a few containers around my house with a little boy.
My wife lovingly refers to me as "squeaky" around the house. I can't wait for the new nickname when I no longer squeak.

Re: Holster squeeking
I had the same problem with my mini-tuck. I found the squeak coming from the leather contacting the metal clips, and applied some of those sticky felt pads designed for the bottom of furniture to the the clips. I've had zero squeaks since. Might want to give that a try.

Re: Holster squeeking
I've had several holsters squeak. I've gotten around the problem by switching to a nylon belt instead

My Bianchi 82 squeeks all the time. I just ignore it. Besides, squeeking is not illegal.

But what if you are squeaking in a manner to cause alarm???glbedd53 wrote:My Bianchi 82 squeeks all the time. I just ignore it. Besides, squeeking is not illegal.
