Where to sell rifle in DFW area...

I'm pretty sure I've had enough posts and been on here long enough now that this is okay (if not, I understand if it disappears). I have a rifle I want to sell, and get some cash to spend on a Taurus M65 or M66. I don't have a service size revolver in my collection and I'm really hankering for one. So I am open to suggestions for good, reputable places to sell a rifle in the DFW area. Any serious advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You have over the required number of posts to list items for sale here, including firearms.

You would get more for it here than ANY Shop or Dealer would give you for it.

List it in the Firearms for Sale section of this website. Include detailed pictures (in focus) and a detailed/honest description & history. Include the price you would like to get for it. If someone does not buy it at that price right away, consider how much lower you would accept and adjust accordingly later on.

If it is a popular model and you have it priced fairly for it's condition and age, it should sell rather quickly here.

Gander Mountain buys, but it depends on the store and the person valuing the firearm. One guy told me it was 70% of the depreciated value. Might be as bad as a car lot.

Here is my dilemma. I bought the rifle "off the internet" from an out-of-state company. I had it sent to an FFL here in Texas and at least I got a cheap transfer. I wish I had done more research on the firearm before I bought it. It is a Century Arms "Golani" (Galil-like semi-auto) in 5.56x45mm. I found out that these rifles don't like to feed anything besides FMJ because they have a tendency to stub rounds on the barrel. Other than this one issue, its pretty solid. I guess if someone was knowledgeable on these things and didn't mind that fact, it would be okay. But I know that most people aren't looking for a firearm they are going to have to do something to so that its 100%. I wouldn't want to upset any of my fellow forum members. I'd rather take it to a gun store where they can inspect it and make a decision on it. It isn't unsafe or anything of that nature in the least. But its finicky about ammo and so I just wouldn't feel right about it. I hope this makes sense.

A lot of guns are picky about ammo. If you disclose it in the details, I don't see a problem with it. I've had pretty good luck selling on TexasGunTrader.

Another good site for selling firearms is Texas Hunters Forum. It's the most active classifieds forum on the internet that I know of - hundreds of posts per day.
But you do get lowball offers.

Yep - here, TX hunting, and other forums - probably as good as you will get, and unlikely you will get anywhere near what you paid. Any dealer is going to seriously low ball you (simple economics and not blaming them at all). As far as selling it to someone and having them get upset because the gun wont run - just tell any prospective buyer that the gun likes certain ammo - it's up to the buyer to be knowledgeable about the weapon and they should know 'stuff' anyways. Doesn't everybody check or have some knowledge about any gun they are planning on buying? Maybe I'm in the minority...

Military guns are made to run FMJ. If they also feed hollow-points, that's a free bonus.

Uh oh. Century Arms is known as "the angry beavers" or "the drunken monkeys" as far as building firearms is concerned :(

Most Century guns can be fixed if the person knows what they're doing, but... it doesn't help the value of the rifle, unfortunately, and if it was built on an ORF (Ohio Rapid Fire) receiver you're even worse off. They were known for stretching and the owner of ORF, Todd Grove, died about a year ago.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - the Galil is an otherwise excellent rifle

If I were to buy it, it would be to strip the Israeli parts off it and rebuild it.

I later did my research that I should have done first. I do NOT have an ORF receiver, mine is from a later batch after they switched sources...like I said, no other problems with the rifle except that stubbing thing/likes FMJ only. I guess I could go ahead and get it posted here in the next day or two. I'll have to look around a bit and see what I should ask for it, not sure to be honest. As far as military type rifles go, its a pretty good looking machine. I'd keep it, but the ranges here in my area won't let you shoot FMJ...hollow/soft-point only. Worried about ricochets or something. And I REALLY want a double action revolver...anyway, thanks to all who have replied. I'll take that into account as I proceed.

How many mags do you have and would you be interested in shipping to Houston on my dime? I have a few wheel guns I might offer in trade depending on your asking price. Have you shot any steel case ammo through it? What brand ammo have you shot that is does like?
