I suppose we should advise people without a CHL to carry openly passed that sign, then. We wouldn't want a §30.05 charge on top of the felony §46.02 charge
At a tetco in Dallas they have sign saying it is felony to carry firearms where liquor is sold served or consumed. These guys need to get a clue. Says nothing bout licensed or not must be out of state sign.
I see the unlicensed possesion signs all the time. To me this means that I am welcome in this establishment since I do have a license. I don't understand why any of us would be offended by this.

Besides, these signs are required by TABC to be posted so it isn't like the establishment has a choice in the matter.

Thats not the sign people don't like. The other one, saying "no handguns", even though not legally enforceable clearly shows you the owner doesn't want guns there. Thats fine with me, I don't want my money there either.

Would you go to a gun show? Would you allow your children to attend a public school? Would you shop at HEB or Wal-Mart where they do not respect their employee's right to even carry in the parking lot. Would you allow your children to attend a public university in Texas?
If you think about it, there are practically no entities that really respect out right to carry; should we just stop then? Our right to carry is about the law, not individual's emotion-based opinions. It's a victory for the anti-gun crowd when a CHL voluntarily adds to the list of restricted places that he may carry.
Yep, I was referring to the "unlicensed possesion" signs. I wouldn't do business with anyone that has the other "no handgun" signs either, but I have never seen one of those yet. The only place I frequent that has a 30.06 sign is AMC Willowbrook. The sign is very small (8x10) and is mounted above one entrance door on the right of the ticket sales booth. You would really have to hunt for it to even know it is there. I do carry there, and I always go to the left entrance.

Welcome to the forum.
They do not and please don't give them a clue. That is a very old sign here in Texas and is irrelevant now.

However, if they sell alcohol for off premises consumption (which many c-stores do) I believe TABC rules require the modern version of that sign (aka the felony warning sign.)

You're talking about the standard "Unlicensed Possession" sign, right? I don't have any problem with that, but why say anything to them? Once informed of their ingorance they may do a little research and post a valid 30.06 sign. There's nothing to prevent them doing this.

That's too funny. None of the dress jackets I have are long enough to conceal that thing.
And prices starting at $500, really? I don't think so.

Not if they post 30.06 or other anti-CHL signs. Probably not for a lot of reasons. Yes because they don't post 30.06 signs and don't try to stop me from carrying, but if they did I would shop somewhere else.

I guess HEB and Wal-Mart really ain't gonna be too happy come September...but guess what? They'll get over it after a little while...since the often trumpted "blood in the streets" won't come to pass due to this any more than it did after the original CHL or subsequent expansions...I hate doing this slow incremental stuff, but its working.
